Perfect, but it doesn't detect any storage unit, could someone guide me?

Well, now that's some crazy timing. I'm in the process of converting my esxi / freenas configuration to esxi / unraid. There isn't a ton of info out there for how to do it and nothing as clear as what you presented here. I had actually thought about creating a video series myself, but you beat me too it! Solid quality, nice work guys. Insta subscribed.

Thank you. I managed to install unraid by following your tutorial. On the other hand, I am breaking my teeth to succeed in reassembling my vmfs volumes on my VM Unraid. Has anyone managed to see from Unraid this type of volume added to the VM?

Glad it helped! Are you moving unraid from to another VMware server?

@@TechCoreDuo Thank you for your reply. I have other VM that can see my vmfs volume, I add the disks from the Vmware console. I do the same with unraid but he sees nothing. I will try to add a sata disk directly to sata on the motherboard to do a test. I have an HP Proliant ML380.

Is this an officially supported configuration by Unraid?

Very nice! I have a question I already have unraid running with some shares and some stuff running, how can I transfer that installation over to the VM on VMWare?

uhm... what's the point of running it in ESXi? if you passthrough the PERC controller there won't be any datastores available for the ESXi to use.....

There are a couple of reasons you would want to do this. For example I like the management and UI of UNRAID. I have a PCIE NVME adapter that holds a datastore for the UNRAID image and a few others. I then let UNRAID manage all my drives and data shares. Same thing can be accomplished with setting up VM's on an NFS share instead of the PCIE adapter. Also, once UNRAID is set up you can use it as a datastore for VMware which I like to use for their VM management of course.

@@TechCoreDuo interesting idea. I'll try it. what about disk health metrics? do you use this server in a vSphere environment?
