Steve Young was a big part of the singer/songwriter movement that was taking root in the late 60s', having played with Van Dyke Parks in their band called Stone Canyon and his first album had such luminaries as Gram Parsons and Gene Clark of The Byrds on it. The Eagle recorded an acoustic version of this song (even though you won't see it here why, Don, WTF WHY?) Joe Coghlan and I were batting around ideas of songs we were going to try next and New Kid In Town was one of our ideas until Joe reminded me of the "Don Henley Rule" so we figured we'd supersede his crazy doctrine and record Young's version of his most famous song.
