I got one partly because of Daniel's advice. He was spot on! This thing is awesome and the best PC upgrade since SSD's. I feel like it took my gaming setup to the next level. I am running a 6700XT which I would say is the minimum to play AAA games @4K. 3060ti/3070 would work but 8GB VRAM isn't great) and 6800/3080+ would be ideal. FSR/DLSS helps a ton too. Playing a game like Witcher 3 with texture mods is like playing it for the first time! Forza Horizon 5 is mind blowing. The 42" might be better but I'm not regretting jumping on this thing when the price dropped to $1100 late 2021 before Christmas. I have a bedroom set as a dedicated computer room and a big desk so space wasn't an issue for me, but it might be for some. Ideally you would mount this thing.

12:40 you mention you prefer 4k but the actual pixel density on your 48 inch Oled @ 4k is worse than the QD-Oled 3440x1440 34inch ultra wide. I see a lot of people moan about something being not 4k when it's more about the screens PPI. The PPI of your 48 Inch oled screen is 91.8 the same as a 24 inch 1080p screen which is 92ppi.
@danielowentech
2 жыл бұрын
I actually prefer the larger screen size. The 48 inch 4K feels more immersive than the ultrawide and you don't have to worry as much about poor ultraeide support in games. It's more pixels in the image overall as well, and density is also relative to the distance you view it from (as I discuss in the video).
@aberkae
2 жыл бұрын
Depends how close you sit to the screen though. a 34 inch 1440p ultrawide I sat 2 feet away from the screen and for my 48 inch cx I sit 3 to 4 feet away. The 16:9 has more vertical and horizontal pixels and thus has more screen realestate as well as better support during cutscenes instead of breaking immersion in a ultrawide during cutscenes. I loved my old gsync ips 3440 by 1440p monitor until I got a 48 inch cx.
@theemulationportal
2 жыл бұрын
Fair enough to each there own, I still think the arm distance you showed would present a problem for me (specifically motion sickness/eye strain) but everyone's eyes are different. I know you mentioned sitting further back with controller in which case I'd prefer a larger screen size as well for that particular use case. Personally though if you're a desktop user the QD-Oled with a built in 3 year burn in warranty, RGB layout for superior text clarity, 1000 peak brightness in HDR and the increased colour gamut/range all packaged together @ £1100 or $1300 seems to offer much more practical and cost effective use case for most people considering you don't need an entire separate monitor for work/web browsing. Hopefully OLED is pushed more and more in the monitor market, because one thing I completely agree with you on is once you go OLED you can't go back.

No work, no productivity, just flying, driving and space sims. I have watched more videos then I care to admit and it has been a hard decision. And while the FOV seems a lot better for these types of games, the height, size, OLED and 4K seems more enticing than a wider FOV. HI, ok i understood this: the only way today to have everything "active" (4k, 120hz, HDR, VRR G-sync / etc ..) without problems is to connect usb c (DP 1.4) or DP1.4 or later on DP monitor input. Or connect an HDMI 2.1 output to the card / pc (only the new rtx 3000 cards support it now). So the rtx2000 series may already have problems with 120hz 4k and HDR. The 3000 series on laptops (like mine: rog zephyrus s17 with rtx 3080) must necessarily be connected with USB c (display port) otherwise the laptop uses the iGPU (Intel) instead of the dGPU (3080). So I have to put a USB c to hdmi 2.1 adapter to use a lg C2 tv. NO ADAPTER TODAY supports VRR / Gsync. So you will have no problem 4k 120hz and hdr with the best adapters and an 8k hdmi cable BUT NOT THE VRR / GSYNC. I know I have to give up on this. The only way to directly and cleanly connect the rtx graphics to the tv (via hdmi 2.1) is to change laptop or PC with native output on 2.1 graphics (or from DP to DP only with some monitors, but no hdmi 2.1 tv) . Or wait for an adapter cable to come out (if it does come out) that does not lose any information.

That is very glowing praise. And I have come to trust your attention to detail in such things :) I have been torn between the 2022 Neo G7, and the Asus PG42UQ (an asus rog-swift adaptation of the 42" LG C2 panel). I honestly think the Neo G7 is better in many regards (color accuracy, text clarity, and no burn in). But that 1000R curve is TOO curved. It actually validates the complaints of the naysayers of curved screens, because it's too rigid in terms of head placement & distance, and it's curve is _not_ uniform (more like 500R in the middle to 3000R at the edges). Too much curve forces you to reduce FOV in game settings or suffer fish-eye headaches. And a non-uniform curve actually does make it bad for productivity. I am still concerned about getting burn-in from desktop and/or playing over 1000 hours in a game and ending up with a permanent ghost of the UI on the panel. I have a laptop with a 4k oled... no burn in there. But honestly I don't use it for extended periods of time. You're kinda leaning me towards the Asus over the LG.

My lg g2 oled tv gives me headaches. And my eyes feel spotty/blurry for like 30 minutes after I turn it off. Vision feels Like I’m wearing glasses with a bunch of fingerprints in them. I got a week to return it. It looks great but I don’t look forward to using it so I’m just gonna get an lg 32 inch iPs monitor. Never gave me eyestrain unless I gamed over 8 hours.

Everything you mentioned in this video is absolutely correct! The new Alienware ultrawide QD-OLED looks amazing and technology is moving in the right direction.. Im considering getting it.. However, its 1440p. I feel like I will replace my monitors when micro led comes out. Side note: Since I purchased my first MacBook pro late last year, the screen is micro led and it is near OLED with very high brights!! It's quite amazing, but very slow.. Monitors are a big deal, depending on the use.

Not an honest review, I have the C1 Oled 77 inch and its garbage for gaming on my PC, as well a playing youtube videos or streaming, the Judder on MSFS is siezure inducing, anything with trees, sharp edges such as windows or building, and Neon signs cause horrible amounts of judder. It makes no difference what mode the TV is in the situations continue. If I could return my TV I would but I am stuck with it.

49" LG Nanocell(Aka Poor Man's OLED LOL). It does everything the C1 does but obviously, it's not going to match the picture or HDR level. However, if you are coming from non-HDR display you will notice the difference. I tell people the exact same things you said here. A good display almost feels like GPU upgrade. I went from a 2017 TCL 4K TV. The jump felt massive.

I absolutely 100 percent agree with you. My LG 48" C1 so far has been my best upgrade ever. I'm also coming from a Lg34gk950g and are using it as a secondary monitor now and there are not even a slight comparison between the two. Response times, HDR content, game graphics and Overall usage I can truly say it's still my best upgrade ever. The 48 inch size is perfect for me and playing Modern Warfare multiplayer allot visibility, detail in game and response times have made a huge difference for me comparing it to my old LG 34 Ultrawide G-sync monitor. It is really that much better. As for burning I'm using it every day for gaming, movie/series and no burning at all so far and thats with all protection turned off. Thanks for video and well done to LG for the C1 I absolutely love it to bits....

Hi Daniel, I am comparing this older C1 mod vs C2. One difference for me is that only C1 has blur reduction feature under 120Hz (while C2 can only do blur reduction with 60Hz.) Do you use this blur reduction feature often? I play a lot of FPS and action games, not sure if that's a key feature I need to consider. (monitor size is not a problem for me)

I'm ok with waiting for around 5 more years for QD-OLED or miniLED tech to be the norm even for 1440p as well as proper HDR for the budget masses, by that time I'd not think twice to buy. Right now, I can't justify the expense (not just for the monitor, but due to the high pixel counts they currently come with, the GPU horsepower to run them as well) My dream monitor in the future would probably be a 1440p, 27inch qd-oled/miniLED and HRD 1000(or higher) with at least 144hz refresh and all the bells and whistles that comes with new tech, all for hopefully not more than 500$.

The problem with HDR on an OLED is the big scenes of HDR. The ABL kicks in and lower the brightness. Dark scene are better with some specular highlights like a lamp or fire works etc they look great. OLED as a monitor is fine because you sit pretty close and wouldn't want something way too bright.

you don't need higher brightness levels on a gaming screen, especially when the black levels are so low.. For bright scenes of HDR when watching multimedia content on a 55 and above screen sure it could help, but newer panels are also brighter and also because black levels are so minimal the dynamic range ratio is big..
@wille769

I have a 48" C1, had a 48" CX, and currently use neither for daily desktop use. Why? Because ABL (Auto Brightness Limiting) makes text and general computing much more difficult on both of my OLEDS (even in a dark room). I work about 55-60 hours a week and take online classes, btw, heavy user. IMO, for general desktop use, current OLEDS are not the most versatile choice. They just don't get bright enough and result in eye fatigue, let alone how distracting ABL IS. I think it's problematic to refer to it as a monitor at all. They're great gaming displays. That's it. I bought a Aorus Fv43u in October, much better for general use. The new QD-OLED panels may be game changers as they become more common, we'll see.
