Thank you for this info. I encourage you to keep sharing your knowledge of these kind of techniques. When I try to find info like this, the most I find are the typical mainstream channels trying to explain how to light your videos for youtube, normally with equipment that they want to sell.

Your videos are like gold - rare, but precious! I'm pretty sure I'm never gonna use any of these techniques, but it's delightful to watch and listen to you, learning all the secrets! No typical YT crap whatsoever, straight to the point, clear and pure information.

It's because they're real. Because he doesn't want you by that to visit his website to buy a product of his. Or some other "more profational" full course in this section.

I'm curious where you set the white balance in the camera in these scenes. Do you set it to match the filter or leave it at 5600k and tweak it all in post?

Hey man! Great informations! I have a question: I want to learn the preproduction process that you did with the production design in the Nestle commercial. Had you knew already that you are gonna key out the sky therefore you said them there can`t be any blue colors in the scene? Thank you!
@kinetek2881

Yes, on this add which I shot 15 years ago I did as keying was not so easy back then. I don’t any more as color isolation is so easy nowadays.

I appreciate the video and the knowledge you share however, which ever effect you use to achieve an image through "manual" ways, outputs an old looking image. In my eyes. Why do you think it is?
@kinetek2881
4 жыл бұрын
True. All the references I am using in these workshops are from commercials shot in the 90s and early 00s. I retired from commercials in 2010. But the techniques are still as sound today as they were 10 or 20 years ago. I now like to shoot TV and motion pictures. I do use material from these new projects in my live workshops, but if I use material from them on youtube, the workshops get taken down as they have to be whitelisted by the distributor with youtube first, which very few are due to distribution ownership. The only movie Kinetek got whitelisted for youtube was ‘Quezon’s Game’ which was supposed to look like a movie shot in 1938 so it looks even older than my commercials. I have just shot a new movie called Songs for Selina. Hope it gets whitelisted for youtube as it looks very cool and I would love to show you how I shot it. There are some truly unusual techniques in it. I used mirrors and arial image projections all through it. Until then, I will keep using my old commercials as references to demonstrate techniques I use regularly today. Cheers
