I have mild autism. I can get overwhelmed with loud noises because I don't like to be in a group with a bunch of people. As for smelling things, the only things I smell are the benches in church because they are called pews.

That has to be very difficult to manage meals and nutrition- so sorry! Dylan is a picky eater and is addicted to salty and crunchy foods so it is hard to keep his weight down and nutrition levels in the right place. I am thinking about trying a keto-like diet for him (low or no carbs and sugar) but it will be REALLY challenging because he will fight it for sure! 😪

I wonder what kind of effects switching to a nutrient dense whole plant foods diet would have.

Thank you. Yes, we have tried years of gluten and casein free diets and didn't notice a significant improvement. I think low/no carb would be good but I am not sure I am ready to try that. Dylan is bigger than I am so any major aggression increases, even if temporary, are concerning to me.

@@autism-ourjourney5854 something tells me that a nutrient dense diet that focuses on nailing the vitamin and mineral requirements of someone his size would be worlds different from just removing single things. I actually am a pretty good chef myself and focused on meals that nail these daily requirements. I'm 100% sure I could give you some tasty ideas to introduce to your son that also include herbs, vitamins and minerals that promote a calm state of mind would at least slightly improve any condition. Let me know and I'll start with a recipe or two. If you're interested reply with flavor profiles and textures he enjoys!!!!

@@autism-ourjourney5854 so have from gluten free i as i used to have server meltdowns where i had to be restrained, the only diet that helps and changed our lives and found out what food diddnt agree with me, its called the gaps diet, my behaviour was most probably due to the fact my gut lining got wrecked as i was on alot of anti-biotics as a child with very bad tonsilitis it was either me on anti biotics or me dieing of sepsis as a toddler, i am autistic.

there are research to show that eating junk food has a play on our behaviour etc especially on the spectrum, and i know pepole who can back me up as their son has autism and they notice a negative change in his behaviour if hes been eating junk food.

I have high functioning autism. And it’s also a nightmare, so when people say “your normal to me”. I cringe every time I hear that!
