Industrial sewing machines are excellent for tackling thicker layers, but they're heavy, come bolted into big ugly tables, and take up a LOT of space. They just aren't practical, even if you do make your bags to sell. I had the Janome M7 Continental (even did a video on it!) but downgraded to the HD9 so I could have a semi-industrial for garment making. Booooy howdy does it handle thick layers though!!!
In case you want to consider other semi-industrials, here's a list of some to check out. Note I have no experience with these, so you'll want to do a bit of research before you commit:
Elna Elnita EF1 (currently listed at $1200 on Amazon Prime US... wild???)
Bernette b08
Juki 2010q
Sailrite Ultrafeed (supposedly really heavy, so be careful!)
Note that the Elna and the Bernette are the EXACT SAME MACHINE as the Janome HD9. They are all made in the same factory, just with different branding.
