I always enjoy your videos, thank you for taking the time to do them! I love your precious fabric and the dress pattern you picked, it will be lovely even if a little late and we can see your reveal here! No worries. I have a lot of precious fabrics and my makes will be very late indeed😊

Hi Cath. Great idea to make those changes. When my mother made my slip dresses she put a cord or twill tape. My straps never stretched ( after the first " test" slip dress. As always loved your vlog. Thank you.

Patterns for pirates do a free leggings patter - peg legs, I've used it before and found it fine - might be worth trying before paying for a different pattern 😊

Great video, I just love your Molly dress! I finally made a Sabina a few weeks back in a viscose twill and I just adore it.. so swishy and a hint of mermaid with the ruffle! As for leggings, I've not made these, but Sinclair patterns have the Penny legging pattern. I've made other Sinclair bottoms and highly rate them. I'm short so love the petite range where I don't have to shorten! You might find similar with the tall option if you're often lengthening garments. In any case, looking forward to seeing how you go with leggings!

Oh fab so glad you like the Sabina skirt pattern, viscose twill sounds a perfect match for it. Thanks for the Penny legging pattern recommendation, I’ve not tried a Sinclair pattern before so that’s good to know you rate them highly! I’ll have a look thank you 😊

That dress is going to be gorgeous. I have looked at this fabric in a blue colour and it is so nice. I am looking forward to your leggings review. I am going to try the Avery leggings pattern, I am always on the look-out for workable jersey patterns to try. 😄

I loved your excitement in recreating that sweatshirt. It looks great on you and it was worth the work. I really liked the way you took pieces that didn't quite fit and tweaked them...I think I liked that best of all. I'm curious to see how the leggings turn out also the dress. Thanks for sharing.

The easiest way I have found to get mirror image pieces is to take some tracing paper and fold it so the piece is slightly larger than the pattern piece . Then draw round the piece placed on the fold.

Favorite leggings pattern is from Ottobre magazine. Getting the right fabric is key, and you are on your way! There is a tool called a tracing wheel for making up patterns from existing garments. It is a small wheel with points on a handle (you did a version of that already with single pins). Love how you take care in all your sewing, and don’t just whip things out for a single wear.

I had a question about the Sabina skirt, I made a toile in a mid weight cotton/poly, and found it was really big on me, even though I made the smallest size. You are very petite, did you have the same issue at all, or was it just the fabric I chose? Would appreciate your input
@madebycathcraft
Күн бұрын
I think a lighter weight and more drapey fabric would make the skirt feel less big as it will have less volume at the waistband and ruffle and overall less body to it. I have always made the Sabina in a viscose challis and it doesn’t feel too big when I wear my versions. Hope that helps.

Lovely video Cath. I’m so pleased to see that you have started to cut out the dress. I’m sure that the time you have spent making the mirror pattern pieces will pay off, it’s that attention to detail that produces a an excellent finished result. You are always so scrupulous about detail, which is why your makes are so good. 😊 I’m sorry to hear that your little body has been unwell and hope he will be better soon. Have a good week xx

I love the idea of trying different patterns for your leggings. "Lost My Thread" occasionally does a "Clash of three patterns". I love watching those clashes. It would be fun to see a leggings pattern clash. Karina @ lifting pins and needles has several blogs with the formula for choosing the length for neckbands. Hope this information is helpful.

As far as the straps stretching, I think if you make them with the grain, instead of on the bias, they shouldn’t stretch as much.
