I never normally comment, but I absolutely loved this. I loved the way you looked at the shop bought dress inside and out and how you gain your inspiration. You have certainly inspired me to look at high street fashion in a different way. Thank you

This was an absolutely brilliant “vlog” style clip. I really enjoyed the whole process of inspiration to creation to finished garment. I’d love to see more of this style clip. By the by, the fabrics used were great, especially the planning and execution of the broderie anglaise patterning. It was perfect.

I do that all the time..even if I'm sitting in a public place n some design catches my fancy... I'll break the design apart mentally... It's a thrill to get a plain square piece of fabric and give it meaningful design and beat the price it's sold for!

Suzanne, You are so talented and inspiring. Love how you constructed both dresses. However, after watching your video I am feeling a little homesick for Marks and Spencer coffee and cake. I really enjoyed this video and would love to see more similar ones. I love the way you’ve taken inspiration from the NEXT dress but then elevated it with your beautiful fit and finishes. Both your dresses are lovely, but the broderie anglais version is something special. I’m quite new to sewing but want to make clothes of quality rather than versions I could buy off the rack cheaply, so this is very inspiring to me. Thank you 😊

This is a great demonstration of how to design and sew clothing that you like and know will look good on one's body. I have used purchased clothing to clone my patterns. It is a great way to understand design and fit issues that are common in ready to wear clothing. You make it look easy, but it is far from easy, at least until one has reverse engineered enough garments into patterns and then into wearable clothing to have that knowledge and skill set. I love that linen and broderie Anglais fabric that you use. It was perfect for that dress. I like finding tops and dress ideas based on my available fabrics. I am very often let down when I try to find a fabric to recreate something I love. I do have enough fabric to keep me happy for a very long time. Another thing you demonstrate here that we as sewers want to make things we love, and that we will wear. Trying to use established patterns has not worked out so well. I am very often left with a garment that will work for one occasion and likely never get worn again. Today I make my own patterns from normal stylish pieces I find on-line or in the stores. My last point is that I can also coordinate my wardrobe base and have multiple pieces that go together to create capsules or lots of options. This has really helped me ease the pressure I feel to have new and updated stylish clothing, which is time consuming and not really doable when trends are moving so fast. I make styles that will move from season to season as well. This really enhances my sewing time and energy. I love watching you create. Thanks so much.
