It’s not just dating where seemingly no one wants to interact. It’s the platonic stuff too. If we go back before smartphones and streaming really hit ten years ago, it was extremely easy to get messages back from people online or just have someone write you about something. Now, it’s the opposite. The only people that are willing to engage are men who are thirsty for someone and scammers. Perhaps a lot of people are wary of everyone being a potential scammer these days. But it’s deeper than that. 10, 20 years ago everyone I knew was always up to do something. Nowadays, it’s the opposite again. Feels like everyone has to be pried away from streaming and phones. It also doesn’t help that night clubs, video stores, record stores, all these things that got people out are largely gone. Book stores too. All we have left are stores selling physical products of the past. It used to be that you would go out and interact with someone at a video store when you rented something, then maybe you bought a cd somewhere, and ended up at a club. Now you drive out and all you see are restaurants and stores not based around entertainment. The dating apps are useless. More people abandon them every day. You can’t just go join a community and get access to everything, if there even are real communities where you live. Someone either has to create new environments that foster socialization or we should just speed up robots, AI, and everything to make viable alternatives.

But it’s terrible for our waist lines and overall health. Eventually they’ll be a thing on the past as well. First they will probably be able to serve largely the same things without the bad nutrition. It’s the taste and mental gratification that people are after at these places. I wouldn’t really call them social spots the way other places were because you’re basically limited to talking to who you arrived there with. It’s not really a “scene” like things based around something like music was.

It was the Supreme Court in Brooklyn, so I literally knew hundreds of people over the years and watched people go through all stages of age and life. Let me tell you... There was barely a guy I ever knew who was still happy in his marriage with his wife after a few years. It will also cause the population to decrease. Lesbianism will be more common because why would a man want a woman who says no to anything he wants her to do. Most men want to be waken up with a blow job, come home during lunch for a quicky and have sex before going to sleep. And this is EVERY day. No "I've got a headache" or "I'm too tired and sore from work" or "We just did it yesterday". Men won't have to hear these excuses and we sure as hell wouldn't use them ourselves. If you ask most men, sex is the cure for EVERYTHING. Headache, have sex. Work too hard and too long, have sex. Depressed, have sex. Had a frustrating day doing anything, have sex. The only problem is there's not too many women out there who will agree. But if we had someone with the willingness to have sex whenever, wherever and however we wanted, that's just a cherry on top of the ice cream. And having someone that doesn't care if we got some side, who'd want anything but that?

iv been single 3 years and its not cause of video games. even as a retired marine, just at my age, you cant find a woman with older morals and sensibilities. like, gender roles have been completely washed away in my state, dating is no longer to get to know someone, they only date you if your in a relationship or going to have sex. like you cant just walk up to a woman anymore and say hello, sit down and have lunch and just talk, as if all men have an ulterior motive. when its woman who dont seam interested until they learn im retired and marring me gets them full medical and a comfortable life because im getting paid every month for the rest of my life. i aint getting with a girl because she values comfort and security more than real emotional attachment and love.

Upvoted. I always remember this one. However the plot was actually that their interplanetary and space shipping lanes society had decided it was more humane to banish criminals each to a separate deserted habitable planet, in solitary. So the main character is an angry, cantankerous criminal exiled to the planet, not just trapped there randomly. Years during his sentence they decided that solitary was too cruel so they sent a female robot to him in one of the periodic supply drop off runs to his location. After at first harshly refusing to get along with the robot, he warms to her and eventually falls for the robot. His anger and frustration melts away as he falls in love. He becomes very happy and content and grows as a person from his former angry, broken self. Later, the earth ship comes back on another supposed supply run but instead they tell him that his sentence has been commuted and they are there to take him back to earth as a free man. He gets ready to go and they tell him the horrible news - the ship has an exact weight limit and the robot wife can't come. The prisoner character has a fit and says he won't leave, etc.. The crew of the earth ship consider him delusional so they eventually smash and destroy the robot on him so that they can bring him back to earth. You were correct that he wanted to stay with the robot even after he was a free man and was able to come back to earth, but the ending was much darker. The twilight zone had so much creative writing in it's episodes that whole movies and probably even some franchises, and tv shows, have been made based on or heavily influenced by some of them.

I think the big selling point of AI robots will be in the form of a housekeeper. No more dishes, no more laundry, you can go to work and come home to a hot, home-cooked meal and have a conversation without an argument ensuing. It will be more like having an appliance, and eventually, a complete replacement for intimacy, at least for men.

When AI sex robots finally hit, if they're a publicly traded company, I'm taking out loans, getting a 2nd mortgage, and going absolutely all-in on investing. Talk about a business model that is impossible to fail...

Unfortunately it’s not as easy as that. There’s an EXTREMELY good chance that the initial price offering is heavily over valued by people thinking this same thing and you lose it all. Unless you’re the company taking the stock public, you’ve already lost money by the time you buy a stock.

@@slimthugga34 Sex sells. A fully mobile and customizable (body and personality traits) AI sex robot that is also your live in maid? I could easily see guys financing those at like $500/month. _(And hell, a real gf is more expensive than $500/month. So paying less money, and getting treated way better...c'mon)._ Look at how much revenue the sex industry is pulling in through non interactivity like OF. Now imagine if you weren't beating off to videos in the dark, but had your dream girl treating you like a f*cking king and catering to your every whim, whenever you wanted. Dude's would be picking up 2nd jobs to finance those robots. I guarantee it.
