Good advice for any one visiting SF or any city in US now with the hate crime against Asians and people of color. I am in SF vicinity and I know, no kidding! Even since 2016, the situation is worse. Be alert, go out with companions ANY time of the day. Forget night activities, it’s not worth it!

坐公車always用站的..............as a MUNI driver recommended....................its so fxxking dirty and more worse than you think
I think if you want to explore around it's ok, make sure to bring pepper spray and don't look "too good" on the street hahah You don't have to worry about the homeless (just walk by without looking at them, they usually just want to ask for money and say hi) or the smell of marijuana usually that's regular pedestrians smoking it, homeless use other substances. Valencia is fine, there are many hipsters and young people all day, but on Mission, you might get weird people trying to talk to you. If you can avoid SoMa and 3rd street (you probably won't go there anyway, nothing much to see) you will be doing yourself a favor. I grew up in San Francisco and now moved to Daly City, let me know if you have questions. There is Sovla and Foodhall, they both have really good froyo try it with olive oil. You can also walk your way up to Noe Valley, it's a much safer neighborhood with cute shops. Also, you can get a clipper card, then link it to your Apple Wallet and you can just scan the transit card with your phone.
I read He Lan's note ( I don't know her) but she was absolutely right. Pls, bear with me.😀 ( I live here/in the Bay area all my life.. I had visited many states. and I lived in NY and Oregon for different years) I still like the CA bay area the most. ) Also, after the fun with the downtown area, the Oracle Park areas, the Union square, quick financial dist./SF china town, Italian town., the One Ferry building, japan town (Pretty safe walking in the DAY time) Avoid walking Mason, Post, the Tenderloin is a high-crime neighborhood, you can google the area and please do challenge it, just avoid going there!!) Unless you have a car to cruise around - REMEMBER to lock your car at all times! You can tell from the people how they dress and the cars (No expensive cars-later versions new car all kinds/ park at the street or cars are old and worn out Meaning the block could be unsafe, gated stores, windows, etc. use your common senses) Just turn around back to the crowd. ONE rule, pls don't flash your purse, your phone, and your camera, just stay alert/with/in the crowd. PUT your money small purse and phone Separately inside your jacket and pockets. (In case of bad luck, you got robbed, please just hand out your backpack, empty handbag ( The robber doesn't know it is empty or with junk), and camera ( download your pics daily), Do NOT fight back, not worth it. When you are safe, go to a store ask for help, and call 911! ) Then, go to Van Ness and try the House of Prime ribs ( need reservation or you could walk in early bird and give it a try) (Lombard street, place of fine art, golden gate bridge, and fisherman's wharf www.fishermanswharf.org/ (These can be done in one day! If you have a friend and a car!) Please try to visit the clubs at least once, around SF union square could be safer or extend down to Howard ( go together with local friends) At least check out the comedy shows, the Opera hsfwarmemorial.org/ There is this famous one DREAM OF THE RED CHAMBER by a Taiwan director they come back after the Covid, you will know him and the opera. it is worth watching cuz you won't see it in TW. It is not bad and interesting cuz they sing in English. There is a subtitle at the house/show. You will enjoy the show and the Opera house. www.sfopera.com/ you will bring the good memories back to TW. ( You can do Uber to the house to avoid traffic and for safety at nite after the show, yea with friends is better too) Enjoy the local coffee shops (which you tried one already. but there are tons of little ones not sure might be they closed down during the Covid) If you have time, you should visit the cities that passed the beautiful Bay bridge (The lower deck part when going into the East Bay was the old bridge part! Come to East Bay ( Walnut Creek, Livermore SF premium outlets, Danville, and Fremont) We call it Tri-valley Up North, you should check out Napa, Calistoga, St. Helena, and Santa Rosa. (you can book a weekend getaway 1-2 nites hotel or motel, wine tasting and wine train www.winetrain.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw46CVBhB1EiwAgy6M4vbZlMbzyTYmVBEav2W4wU3SoSK_-eHgcd0yOza2tTzvERBwihSmFxoCZM0QAvD_BwE, have a mud bath and walk around town) Last but not least, check out Meta, google, and Apple campus. If you are a KZitemr, contact them and ask for a tour (Covid could have some new rules but worth to try and worth having the trip of the campus) No need to go to Oakland unless you want to check out the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormon church, but they aren't a fan of that term these days) by the Highway 13, but you may find time to check out Berkeley at day time. Sandford university, Sandford mall, SF Stonetown mall www.stonestowngalleria.com/en.html is good. Walnut Geek Mall is good. the above Sausalito is wonderful. Maggie Cheung and Leon Lai had a movie 'Sausalito" which was filmed there www.google.com/search?q=sausalito+maggie+cheung&rlz=1C1SQJL_enUS894US894&oq=Sasolito+maggi&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i13i30j0i8i13i30j0i390l4.7053j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8... Anyway, be safe and alert. You have two months, about 8 weekends, if you do have time, you should visit the above. However, you should also visit LA, Seattle, and Vegas!!! You should just stay at least another month after school ended. 😂 Enjoy and Welcome to the Bay area.😄🙏👍
