Is there a step I missed for setting up visual studio for displaying text? Everything I have tried leads to the same error of not being able to read the font file. I did exactly what you did in a regular window project.

Going to SFML from SDL is nice. Get to see the luxuries included in the Library!

Agreed! If I am doing C++, and only doing 2D development, I really like using SFML :) SDL2 I find a little bit more reasonable if using with OpenGL/Vulkan/Metal/etc.

oh yea. I did fonts resently, the shader/c++ code needs lots of dusting off before its ready lol

Is there any way to make a standalone release exe that automatically uses a default windows font from the windows fonts folder?

Probably, but I would rather ensure that you have a font available for all users (i.e. just include a default font)

@@MikeShah I had to do a LOT of digging but I ended up finding a way to hex dump font files and include the dump within the build code. I'm not sure if this would cause any issues in any context but its working for what I needed it for.

Hey, great video. Works fine if I launch it through the console but when I try to execute the generated executable the font cannot be loaded with an error saying: "Failed to load font "path" (failed to create font face). Do you know why this is or how I can fix it? Thanks!

Was the executable generated in a different path relative to the font location?

@@MikeShah Nope. Exact same directory so it should work and even does using the console but not when double clicking the generated file

@@MikeShah Ok I think I got it. When launching the executable through a double click it acts like a different path (a subpath of the folder launched from) so it won't find any resources in there. When launching it through console it somehow doesn't "change path" so every resource can be loaded. To make it double clickable just quickly wrote a launcher script (.command) to execute trough console: cd "$(dirname "$0")" ./ProgramName

Added A stream with shader text but it's all none depth and needs alpha still. Maybe font changing system but uses ttf open lib
