Musical maturity at it's finest. They've grown and developed their abilities like a fine wine. This album feels underrated because it's not deathcore, but if you take that away it's a fucking masterpiece

Straight up masterpiece. I say their first two albums were great, but they definitely reached another level with these latest two releases. Elegy is number one now for me, for a number of reasons, Melancholy is a very strong second, and for third and fourth it's a toss up between Reclaimer and Primordial.

Feature on “Blood In the Sands of Time” is Chuck Billy, vocalist of legendary Bay Area thrash band Testament. I think it’s fucking awesome that an OG like Chuck is out here kicking ass with arguably one of the best young bands in the metal scene right now.

Reminder to everyone, SOI is no longer a deathcore band, they evolved into symphonic death metal, and the help on the arrangements by Francesco Ferrini from Fleshgod Apocalypse is proof of that. Core fans may be disappointed, but in my own opinion, it was necessary, it was Ben's desire (and the rest of the band as well, very probably, this is just an assumption) to move on, and they sound just (if not more) brutal and epic, let's judge the 4 albums in their discography as 2 different eras, the melodic deathcore era of Primordial and Reclaimer, and the Symphonic death era that started on Melancholy, and it's still going with Elegy, everyone of us has a different opinion on this albums, but for me, this is a step in the right direction. PD: To be fair, there's bias as well from my part because I love bands like, early Epica, Carach Angren, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Septicflesh.

Who cares what genre they should be placed in, as long as they make good music. I'm a core fan and have been for a long time, and I'm the furthest from dissapointed with their new stuff.

I really enjoyed this album. Life In Exile was my favorite on first listen, it feels like something Dark Tranquility would’ve written and I’m a big fan of that type of sound. I also really dig the Melodeath vibes on the rest of the record. Great evolution for Shadow of Intent on this album.

Here is my little excerpt on the album: "I am very glad to voice that the weakest track is Intensified Genocide, it has grown on me quite a bit though and fits better in context of the album. The issue I had with that song is the riff was taken right from a song from Reclaimer, which made me worried they would recycle more ideas on the album, but gladly this is the only portion that's this blatant on the album. I thoroughly enjoy this overall. This is the first Shadow of Intent album I feel truly lives up to the name of Symphonic Deathcore, or even just symphonic death metal at this point, although there are definitely core elements in the music. They've always had symphonic elements in their albums, but never as prominent as here imo. The end of Life of Exile is fucking glorious and triumphant, I love every track and Intensified Genocide is easily my least favorite. If you dont like symphonic music, you wont like this album, if you do like symphonic music, you'll love this album, I just so happen to be on the love side of things."

Take away the fact that this isn't deathcore, this album is fucking insane. The riffs are so catchy, the vocals are incredible, the symphonies are beautiful, the lyricism and stories are well done. Everything about this is beautiful. SOI are maturing and to think they've produced another masterpiece after Melancholy is insane. Wiseman is an amazing producer and songwriter. This is 10/10
