often dubbed 'the hardest game on the amiga' , perhaps if the solution has to be found without any help. It looks like u trained with infinite hp and using a guide. Once the correct way to complete it is known, it didn't look too bad. Also the size of the world is much smaller than it feels when u are learning the game, it feels like it'd be as big as at least one level on 1st Samurai, but its smaller than that.

I know it has that reputation, but I'd say First Samurai is a harder game than this (a better game as well, if I'm honest). My Dad brought Beast 2 home one day in 1990 and my cousin gave me the "tenpints" cheat - it was the only way I could see more than a fraction of the game until I was in my twenties. I don't use it anymore but old habits die hard. The world is definitely smaller than it feels early on, I suppose you don't have to make a huge game if 99% of players die in the first 2 minutes. Check out my Sega Megadrive/Genesis Beast 2 WRs as well, I can complete that in under 8m20s - the world is TINY.

A lesson in awful game design

I love the game but yeah it really is pretty crap. I've recorded speedruns for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis and Mega CD versions as well. The Megadrive version is by far the most playable but still suffers from a certain amount of jank from being a port. The Mega CD version is genuinely awful and even less playable than the Amiga version.

@@supersharpy64 not talking about how it runs. Just the nonsense design. It's basically impossible to beat ot without a detailed guide.

@@renatoramos8834 My and my brother completed it back close to when it came out, not impossible. Didn't use cheats either or have a guide had to learn everything, took a few months to figure it out. They don't make games like that anymore 🙃

@@edwardecl Why do you think it took months of stupid trial and error? Because of shit design.

Thank you. The Amiga version is the one that got me into the series to be honest and the reason why I wanted to hunt these speedrun WRs - the hardest version by far but also the most fun to run through.

Yeah, it is definitely the hardest 'Beast'-game. Back in the day I could not finish this game even with a cheat code. ( 'ten pints' ) BTW; If you are interested, I have a SotB-themed comic/art on DA.

Admittedly, I couldn't either. I've been playing it since I was 5 or 6 and got drunk at New Years and made a resolution to hold all that speedrun records for Beast 2. I'm definitely interested in that, is your username the same on there as here?

@@Jarumo76 Hey, sorry about the delay in getting back to you - I've got a newborn son and don't have as much free time as I did when I recorded these videos. I had a look on DA and REALLY like your work! Not what I was expecting from a SOTB themed comic but in a completely brilliant way, I love the way that the captions are almost a commentary on your experiences with the games - especially when those experiences are so relatable. Like where you mentioned the T shirt - I never got one as my copies were pack in games with my Amiga but I did finally get a Psygnosis T shirt with Obitus, just a shame the game never gripped me in the same way as SOTB.
