Me and my mom were at the grand opening of The Globe Theater in June 1997. In fact, our seats were only about 20 feet away from the Queen herself that night. My mom also bought 3 of those name stones that go along the outside of the theater. One with her name, my name, and my dad’s name who had passed away years before. My mom was very involved in Chicago with the fundraising for The Globe throughout the 90’s. It was such a huge passion for her. Unfortunately, my mom now is very sick and I think I’m going to lose her soon. I just wanted to pay tribute to her here and say that the Globe Theater has always been so special to her and one day I’ll come back here with my kids and show them those name stones and tell them how their Nannan helped build this place. I love you mom ♥️

That's such a lovely story. I'm happy to hear you've left a mark on the Globe that will be there for years to come. I'm sorry about your mom's health. I hope she has much more time left in her, but I wish you the both the best of luck with the time you have left together.

@@bryanmonaghan6841 throughout the 1990s my mom was an integral part in the fundraising for rebuilding the Globe theater. We lived in Chicago and she organized many events there that generated thousands of dollars that went towards the reconstruction of the Globe. She even knew and worked with Sam Wanamaker before he passed away in the early 90s.

Thank you for that video! Do you know the amount of the reconstruction costs?
@AugmentedActor
3 жыл бұрын
You know I can’t seem to find any reconstruction costs in my research. But I do know that many people in the government and public opinion were against rebuilding it. It did gross $1.5 million in revenue in its first year after reopening. I imagine it cost a pretty penny to rebuild.
