Again. This is an extrordinary video document of a phenomenon that was peculiar to the virtuosity of John and he like Yehudi reaching out to a complexity of music that has not been repeated since that time with such spontaneity. HE still had the ear of many fans and was justbarely hanging on to the American Recording Industry.Shakti,in a Handful of Beauty showed a very feeling player in L. Shankar. Thanks

As a member of the Ravi Shankar Music Circle I had the great luck to see this band (without John) play at Herrick Chapel in Eagle Rock, CA ... I remember L.Shankar had his electric double neck violin ... unbelievable!

In that case you might like to hear an electric version of this song ("Two Sisters" from the 2nd album "Handful of Beauty.) If you go to website JAZZFUSION(dot)TV and look down their list of audio concerts , you can find listed JOHN McLAUGHLIN LIVE AT MY FATHERS PLACE ,NEW YORK 1978 . This is actully a One Truth Band concert , and they do beautiful electric version of this song on that show . Shankar does amazing electric violin on that concert . There are other One Truth Band concerts too

The original vrsion of this song is on their first studio album from 1976.. little bit more tuned and somehow more concentrated...I really cry sometimes when I hear it

@xodarap You should hear his playing on the track "Thirteen" off of Frank Zappa's "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 6, disc 2." There are other live version bootlegs of that song on the internet, but that particular version on the album is quite a ride.

Interesting! I haven't heard L. Shankar playing in a bluesy/jazz scale quite like that before. [Don't think so anyway]. There is obviously more good stuff to track down. Keep up[loading] the good work!
