I remember in an anime, they had to disarm a bomb and their idea to stop its electric current was to FREEZE THE BOMB. It was an anime about trains, with a lot of mechanical stuff and a train specialist as the main character. I feel your pain, man. I really feel it.

Wait, isn't that basically the first half of Metal Gear Solid 2? Using liquid nitrogen on a bunch of hidden bombs... wonder if Kojima was an avid viewer of said anime.
@JackPhoenixCz
Жыл бұрын
That's legit, depending on the design of the bomb. Freezing the battery means there may not be enough power to activate the trigger, and it may disable some other circuits. The anime may have taken that from WW2.

I'm sorry to have to say that there was no battery in the circuit, or at least none that was mentioned. They really were freezing the electric circuit... (Also that was 4 years ago, how did you get here???)

Even the title screen for this game is broken. It's like a power virus. My 2080 ti power throttles down 100mhz below max boost clock, and if I try the kingpin no power limit vbios it tries to pull 1000+ watts and instantly shuts down.

1:53:00 The fact that I didn't notice this obvious flaw regarding the cables makes me realize how little attention my brain was paying after a while, like it totally disconnected from the game world. That's the mark of bad sci-fi (or at least, bad hard-ish sci-fi).

28:00 Wild how Shamus mentions interrupting unique dialogue for repeatable generics and then inside of five minutes, it happens. They were just going to talk about the Rachni War, but nah, here's a signal marker. It's so tiny, but what better emblem of the change in Mass Effect could there be, aside from, uh, the obvious glowy blue one. 32:00 The chat addressed this, but I love how Mass Effect uses lowercase names for races to keep them consistent, the same way we write 'human' or 'cat', we'd write 'asari' the same way. Though with such one-dimensional writing, the Kett organization and kett race are interchangable so hey. 39:00 I dig the animations of flying between planets, but they should have never been mandatory. I believe that fixed that. 46:00 Oh no, I'm getting really bad 'don't fuck with Aria' vibes. Though at least Ryder is a lot easier to intimidate than a character who, by the second game, had killed an alien god. 1:55:30 This game is an editor's nightmare, or paradise. It's certainly fascinating because so many things could have been made so much better with such little tweaks. Like here, one line from the engineer; "When you pull the plug, the kett will come running. Be ready." Bam, sense made. Somehow this entire massive AAA game all feels like a first draft.

Apparently, aside from the driving and shooting which were mostly done since early in the development, most of the game was made in the 18 months previous to the release.

@@speedforce8970 Not really, the game went through extreme development hell. People taking assets and devs from them, problems with the Frostbite engine (literally had to code the ability to save games or even seeing your own character in third person) and mismanagement. There's a pretty good video about it called "Mass Effect Andromeda 1 year later" by a youtuber called Raycevick that explains in detail what went wrong.
@davidstinger1134

@@speedforce8970 The problem is that Frostbite didn't have an animation toolkit from the getgo, and that the animation staff got constantly moved around, mostly to Bioware Edmonton to work on Dragon Age Inquisition. They were close to cancelling it, but EA instead forced Mac Walters to come back and to lead the team to put something together. The plans for the game were originally very different and they had spent a lot of time working on concepts that didn't make it to the game. For starters, the game was originally called Mass Effect Contact, and it was about the Contact War (the war between humans and turians when they first met), but after a poll on Twitter they saw that nobody was interested and they did Andromeda since they really didn't want to acknowledge ME3's ending. The game originally had an entire galaxy full of procedurally generated worlds and you could even pilot your own ship, but both got discarded as time went on when they realized it just wasn't fun and they couldn't create proper missions and story like in previous games if everything was randomized. This was very late in development though. When EA announced ME Andromeda at E3 2015, they were still testing things like spaceflight and landing on planets, for example, and they had not a single level to showcase even though there was release date in the trailer of Holiday 2016, which the devs hadn't been told about. It was simply the perfect mess, and all because Bioware refuses to acknowledge ME3 and make a proper ME4 despite the fact that almost nobody would complain if they just said "THE DESTROY ENDING IS CANON".

"Don't you mean QUEEN of the mountain?" So... I'm assuming this is the character that's supposed to be pedantic. So it's interesting they chose that to pick at and not that the idiom is wrong in the first place. It's "hill", not "mountain".

Mass Effect: Abomination by UbiWare. I installed it in the middle of a Legendary play-through because it was free. It ran smoothly and didn't look so bad. But this game is everything wrong with the game industry of nowadays. A fucking shitshow of a game, it left scratches on my soul in every corner. Everything needs to be a time sink, even the cluttered UI from hell, or the galaxy map. I didn't even bother with the dialogues or anything else. And I have a direct comparison to ME 1 on the same screen. They had simple faces with a simple animation system but it just worked and nobody laughed about it. Bioware created nice looking aliens like the Turians, Krogans, and Quarians, and we loved them. I can't understand it why they included these meat balls in the game and why known alien races don't even look as good as in a remastered ME 1.

Honestly, I'd be extremely pissed if I had hired a bodyguard and he suddenly decided to sacrifice me to save any number of random strangers who weren't paying his wages. It negates the entire point of personal security as a profession if the people involved aren't disciplined enough to stick to their jobs and focus on that rather than being distracted by misguided idealism. A person who signs on as a bodyguard should know better than to let emotion get in the way of their job. Even worse, you make it seem as though shirking the only duty that you are tasked with when taking on this position is somehow the obviously right thing to do? Seriously? Well, whatever. You're entitled to your opinion... I really just felt like responding since the conclusion you came to isn't so obvious to everyone else. Aside from that, this was a pretty entertaining video...

I started playing this quite a while ago and stopped. I restarted recently after starting to read your series of articles on it. I don't know if certain things you mentioned bothered me back then but they sure do now! Now I stop moving once the characters start talking so they don't interrupt themselves by pointing out another pointless group of mooks to fight. And on two of the planets, it's not even the bad guys. It's regular dudes that probably don't deserve to be slaughtered wholesale, at least not by the Pathfinder. I have literally told Sam to shut the hell up. Usually I like your stuff because I played the game and say "yeah I noticed that too." Now it's, yeah, you're right.
