Shamsan Castle, one of the oldest landmarks in Abha as it dates back to the Ottoman Empire. We can find the ruins of the castle.
Shamsan Castle is a large rectangular building 90 meters long and 50 meters wide, with most of its walls still standing today. It has three towers and a main entrance on the west side overlooking the city. The castle also has an indoor rectangular courtyard that leads to all rooms and facilities.
Shamsan Castle carries both military and religious importance. It was used to protect the region until some parts of it were destroyed in 1933.
