Shane constantly talking about how he's "scared of being canceled" is emotional manipulation. He's trying to seem like he's this poor traumarized victim of the internet mob so people feel bad for him. His apology feels insincere at best. Based on how strongly he defended his movie Not Cool it seems like he still thinks those jokes are acceptable. I personally think the best way Shane Dawson can apologize is by putting his money where his mouth is, and donate to foundations that are dedicated to the people he's made a profit off of hurting.

you can tell in the first part of shane’s new series that he is trying to hide how frustrated and angry he is that he has to apologize for his actions. he really doesn’t think he did anything wrong which is why he deflects and says despite the content there’s still good parts of his videos. it’s so embarrassing watching a grown ass man tiptoe around having to say i’m sorry because he is mad he got called out. he hasn’t matured one bit and cannot wrap his head around what he did wrong

It's so crazy to see what was widely accepted in the early 2000s compared to now. There's a creator, Jessica who's a photographer and she has a series on her channel where she reacts to America's Next Top Model episodes, and its insane that that was one of my favorite shows at the time, and now it's totally disgusting to watch. I never watched Shane when he was putting out the super controversial videos, but I really wonder how people who are still subbed to him would think if they watched his old videos today. Nick DiRamio reacted to the J* series with his current perspective, and felt the same way I feel about ANTM, and I wonder if his subs would feel the same

What really irks me about Shane’s “apology” videos is that not only does he never actually apologize but that he also designs them in such a way that he never shades light into the things he did wrong. I remember years ago eventually watching his apology video from about 5 or 6 years ago (I think regarding his disgusting use of blackface) but he never actually addressed anything he did. As someone who was new to his channel I just thought “oh he might’ve been a bit too edgy” but that was only because I had no further information on the situation itself. Same goes to this apology video. Newcomers to his channel (or just people who don’t really delve into the drama or keep up with KZitem outside of the videos themselves) will look at this video, think his cancellation was unwarranted and will keep supporting him because they simply don’t know the horrible things he did. Shane painted his cancellation as being just caused by distasteful jokes, but all of us know it was something way deeper and worse than that.

Shane hasn't even come to terms with what he did wrong yet. That Spiraling t-shirt is a slap in the face considering he is claiming to have grown so much and has transformed into someone completely different. You're not supposed to be spiraling if you're growing as a person. I think he wants to play victim but knows that is wrong so he just passive aggressively plays victim. He admits that he has disassociated from his younger self which means he has not confronted his past... absolutely no growth has happened and ya know what, maybe the shirt is apt because he is still spiraling.

it is not hard for him, he just does not feel that it is his fault. he specifically uses passive voice because he thinks it is something happened to him, not something he made and got backlash for. he only hints that his viewers betrayed him and now should be ashamed for making him problems. isn't it obvious?

Okay. Can we discuss the fact that he literally DOES try to justify his old content in this same video?? At one point he says he at least partially still stands by the fact that people "connect with" those old videos... If you don’t stop to question what he says, then it’s super easy to fall for and easy for him to control. I'm not a Shane fan but he did his apology video when he left the internet. Why do people think that his video back was supposed to be an apology video. If people don't like his apology we aren't getting another one

People expected him to say something because he never even acknowledged his child SA in that video, only apologized for the blackface. Now I don’t think an apology excuses a crime like that, so I’m Not personally looking for an apology from Shane but rather a prison sentence, but there are those who feel like things could go back to normal if he just admitted to it and apologized

Wow. I didn't even notice or think about that... Now it makes me more aware of who Shane is or could be with this comeback... I definitely need to pay more attention for the next series he plans on doing

Bet his response would sound a LOT like that tantrum he threw during the not cool situation

I think he is anxious and thinks he needs to be liked and thought of as funny. That can get in the way of being genuine and honest..

All he had to do was apologize and say the exact words you said, he didn't even need to mean it (I wish he would mean it).. like I don't know, it's so obvious if he can't even say a genuine sorry and help heal the people he hurt..he clearly isn't sorry

“People are just going to hate me no matter what 😢” ewwwww Shane 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Imagine building your career out of cheap racism and sexualization of minors and then playing the victim when it bites you hard in the ass. Maybe people *would* hate you no matter what but they have EVERY RIGHT TO. Yet it doesn’t help that you refuse to truly acknowledge the severity of what you’ve done or do anything concrete whatsoever to make amends. You’re the one who said you should’ve lost your career over the shit right? Ps. Drinking water 😇

She isn’t wrong he hasn’t changed. He hasn’t apologized. It’s more of a “I’m sorry you feel offended but there’s still good stuff in there” kind of stance from him. Not to mention the exploitation of both a Native American tragedy and smaller KZitemrs for his new “series” he definitely hasn’t changed. He even jokes that he didn’t learn anything from this I’m the first 30 seconds of him being on camera

I’m too old to have ever watched him. I’m Gen X and he’s not someone I find entertaining. His work was aimed at my daughters generation and my husband and I wouldn’t ever have allowed her to watch content like his. Also his camera work is horrible, and I personally have no idea why people think he’s such a genius. He needs to grow up. He and Ryland are made for one another. Both seemingly narcissistic and emotionally stunted boys.

This is exactly what I thought when I watched his video. Like, imagine someone you know does something really shitty to you, so you get angry with them. Then they say they want to apologize for what they did to you, but then they also go "I not going to say what I really feel, because then you'll just say that I want you to feel sorry for me." He's literally saying "I'm not going to do that, because you'll get mad at me." So he knows that what he really feels is wrong and that people would call him out for it.
