Joshua should retire in my opinion. But as my opinion means nothing and Joshua wants to continue, if the rematch with Dubois can happen, then, he should fight Dubois. But if I was advising Dubois, I’d wait for the outcome of the fight between Uysk v Fury, and hopefully face the winner for an undisputed fight. It’s far bigger than a rematch with Joshua.

One aspect nobody else has highlighted is that until aj caught dd in round 5, dd came forward alot. The uppercut was advice to ko the coming forward dubious. In round 5 aj had dd in trouble, dd went backwards and aj went forward. The uppercut was wrong for being in front of dd with his hands up.

Anyone that been watching boxing for the last thirty year know that was the wrong call . An uppercut suppose to be a shot you don’t see you thrown on the inside whip up the inside. Aj hasn’t thrown the upper cut in the right way since the Klitschko fight it always seems telegraphed.

Throws the uppercut so by the book in the sense trying to get the perfect technique, it ends making his whole body telegraph it. It's like if they wanted a photoshoot of a boxer throwing a uppercut his would make a great photo but I'm sure uppercuts are meant to be a bit sneaky, he never does things instinctively joshua either for me. So basic. Probably doesn't make sense but in my head it does...hence I'm no coach

Just like fighters, some trainers can do it in the gym and under the bright lights. Others are sensational in the gym, but under the bright lights, not so much! Ben is a great trainer, but he panics in the corner and makes terrible calls more often than not!

When competing in all sports, at the highest level, it's 99% mental. You can have all the skills, etc... in the world, but if the head isn't switched on correctly, then one just ends up, an average Joe. If the head isn't tunes in, then things can go wrong very quickly. That applies to both Joshua & Dubois. The mind is a funny thing, and it takes someone very special to overcome nerves on the big stage. There are not many who can perform at their best, at the highest level. How many time do we hear people saying, he was brilliant in training, but then when it comes to the big day, the bottom falls out.

The problem for AJ was that he didn't have his legs from the off for some reason,,,and ddd had more legs than usual because he had a point to prove on such a big occasion,, that said Aj did well to recover as his powers of recover aren't great, and that fight could have easily turned if he hadn't have been in such a rush to end it. Incredibly perceptive about Dubois' respect for authority figures in the image of his dad and how to deliver the right message. In hindsight, correct decision for Dubois-McGuigan to part ways - in Don Charles Dubois has a figure very similar in age and personality to his dad - the messages will land more effectively. Sometimes human connection trumps coaching expertise.

Dubois fought like all of the real heavyweights of the 90s who from the first bell went out got suck in trying to knock each other out, look at all AJS fights, apart from the klitcko fight, and all of them have been, slow, causious jab, n waitinf for a opportunity. In the 90s they all went at it from the start, apart from Trevor Berbeck, when he fought Mike tyson, who was more worried about getting hit off Tyson, than hitting

I think Davies could beat Azim, seems a big jump in his opponent quality, CBS gets stopped by Ramirez and Opetai beats the pair of them. Shane criticising Jai’s wins against Breidis is wild, that version of Breidis from the first fight would beat CBS comfortably.

A lot of great points from Shane. I believe (and have done for a while) that he's the best trainer in the U.K. He's probably forgotten more about boxing than Ben Davison knows 🤣. That being said, Dalton Smith KO's Adam Azim if that fight happens anytime within the next couple of years.
@macario11688

Wasn't the idea to slip Dubois' jab? Or for AJ to throw the uppercut behind his own jab? Not that I know or rate Davison, but don't remember them telling him to throw a lead right uppercut from distance. AJ interpreted it that way, and his hands being down is his own fault. He should have followed the Wladimir Klitschko approach years ago. Probably too late now, he is what he is.
