The best Vice episode was when they visited the most prolific Russian hacker who claimed hacking was just made up American propaganda. Then he handed his laptop to the Vice reporter and asked if all of the information on the screen was correct. He had hacked Vice’s website and accessed his employee profile.

Gavin said that Shane was such an affective saleman because he was a great bullshitter, which he carried through his tenure at Vice. And that Shane was put in charge when Gavin was fired because all the bosses knew about Vice was that Shane was the guy who brought in the money, and that's all they cared about. So being a born huckster both got Shane the job to begin with, then it got him control of the company.

Well, don’t forget that before he ran it into the ground he took it to financial heights that would NEVER be possible under gavin, and pocketed 10s, maybe 100s of millions for himself in the process (Gavin left with only about 10 million). Early vice was fantastic for introducing angsty millenials to the World through docs/eps/stories on politics and cultures. I'm thankful for its existence. I'm not mad at him. With that said -- "When did you leave?" Dodges and rambles irrelevant bs.. I.E.. Wayy too late. You can tell Dude feels guilty but can't admit he should've either bounced or stayed true to his vision. He had one foot in the treadmill and the other in a pale of shit.

The last line: "Founders are not necessarily operators" is telling. Jordan Peterson talked about the personality traits and differences between the 2 types. As well as the de-evelution that occurs in organizations as they become too big, bloated, rigid, and inefficient. And its not just in companies, but also academia, government, anywhere where bureaucracy rears its ugly head.

When Joe asked if Adolf was a common name in Germany prior to Hitler, I had to pause and mention that, yes, Adolf was a popular name prior to Hitler and his buttmunch ways. My deceased grandfather was originally named Adolf, but because his family was Jewish, he had it legally changed to John/Jack.
