I believe he is a true master, one of my chief masters which is like an original old school dude once said you go through five levels in training, one you practice getting the form, two is power, three is reflex and power together, four is emptying your mind, and five...well that's when you do it when you are asleep lol.

it cant be exactly told whether his punch would work or no. indeed shi yan ming is one of the toughest shaolin monks.kimura's toughness is sure great but one cant underestimate shi yan ming's toughness. shi yan ming has more than what's shown here actually.

Maybe the "sloppiness" is a form of looseness like in Drunken Style. We've seen some old masters really whip out a technique while looking formless.
