I always did the cooking for 47 yrs with occassional help from hubby. Then I got sick & I cannot stand up to cook a meal now & move around the kitchen. So hubby has had to learn to cook. It helped that we got brand new Air Fryer & so he was away. Can do all sorts now & i only occassionally do a stir fry, always cut & chop the salad & prep the veges then leave him to cook it all. He does a fab job & learns new things each week. He's no good at soups, so I have to do those too. He even learned how to cook shepherds pie & rhubarb crumble! Doing OK at 74!

Hi Linda It’s always nice to have e memories even though some of us have t got either photographs or memorabilia with us. I had no choice when my mother passed as everything went for sale to pay for solicitors fees. My toys as a. Hold, my books and clothing when I was a baby. The people who did this are now deceased, which was quite upset over this as I was not included and several mistrurhs were told about me. I wiill never ever forget what lies that she willingly spread about me. She passed quite a few years ago and she took all my mums gold jewellery that were bought from a jeweller and these were left for me until after her death it these memories will stay with me forever I have enjoyed this journey with you. Thank you for sharing your treasures with us. It is so difficult to have a clear out. My youngest son has headed back to Dorset with many boxes that I felt he should have until one day he asked what random rubbish was coming his way this trip! Ouch! But he had always been too polite to say that he would have a look through and just take what was he felt was needed. He must have seen the look on my face and said he was sorry, didn’t mean to hurt my feelings. But it made me have a damn good throw out and realise it had been easier to pass the stuff on than sort it myself! My other son lives nearby and just has a look and says no! However, the loft is now not in danger of collapsing. One thing that will not be passed on is my Teddy…..75yrs old, extremely loved and played with. He has listened to many secrets and soaked up many sad and happy tears. He is bald and tatty (Teddy I mean, not current partner). I have always wondered what will happen to him on my demise. But now……will copy you. Teddy will be in the box with me! Thanks Linda.xx Liz

First time I've seen someone do this Linda and it was a real privilege to share your precious treasures. I think we all have a collection of special things which come to mean such a lot. I've tried to be selective over the years with mine, as I couldn't hang on to much, but nostalgia is a huge thing as we age and it's important to keep a few things which help us to remember happy and sad times. You've done really well to have saved all those precious cards. My discarded husband, (number one) was in the military so moving around meant letting go, and what was left by the time of second husband, was eaten by termites and humidity while living in the Caribbean. So I envy you those. Your son's little red outfit actually made me shed a tear. So touching! And your sister's teddy! He needs no embellishment, no visits to the Repair Shop. He's charming just as he is, and an endearing reminder of your late sister. Just keep him safe! I think teddies are the hardest thing in the world to part with. They all seem to have souls, somehow. Linda I hope you don't feel that you need to be funny and make us laugh all of the time. When you are being funny, it's spontaneous, and you don't have to try. I'm sure everyone understands that you are a well-rounded person who gets sad as well as happy. Priceless things. Just treasure them and thanks so much for sharing them with us.

Linda please don't get rid of any of your treasures they will not take up much space in your loft if you keep them, or maybe find a small space in your bedroom where you could maybe have access to them easily so that you could look at them more. I was married to a horrid man for 24 years, and eventually, I managed to get away from him and leave him, but through me leaving him, I also lost my two beautiful daughters whom he brainwashed against me . Unfortunately the only two things I managed to take from our marital home was my two daughters pink cards which had all their birth details on which were in the bottom of their hospital cribs to identify the child and I also have the two little clips which were placed on their belly buttons. I have been estranged for 18 years now, and these few items are all I have to rememberthem by, so linda, please keep your treasures. Thank you for sharing them with us all. Sending love. X❤

When my baby son died at 10 weeks old, I kept the clothes he wore and also the papoose he was in when he died....I found him dead in his cot first thing in the morning. I put the items in a plastic bag, sealed and stored them in my airing cupboard. Every few days I would open the bag and hold it to my face and breathe in the smell of him. One day after doing this for a few months, I opened the bag and held it to my face and there was no scent of him at all and at that moment those things were just clothes and a papoose, he had gone.
