Awesome seminar. Thanks so much for taking the time to educate us and put this video up. I learned a ton. Question: I recently purchased the Penn Senator 117l (14/0) to do some land based shark fishing here in NC. I will be kayaking baits out 300-400 yards off the beach. Would you suggest I spool this with 200lb braid and then a mono shock leader before the wire or spool the entire thing with 130lb mono or something different all together? Also, you mentioned weighting down the bait and I didn't really catch that. How do you weight the bait down? Rock, spider weight, something different?

I used to live in karratha, Western Australia and there were way too many shwrks, remember even hooking a massive mako with my handline, it jumped up really high and the handline got caught in the side of the boat spinning very fast, it was never a problem getting sharks at all but most of them were only a few ft also remember one time where there were probably around 30 big ass hammer heads under the boat.

Thanks for all your wisdom and all the sharing in this video. How about if I just want to catch big edible fish from the inlet or beach in Bradenton ? What rig, line, hook & sinker you recommend? I just want to go home with some good protein. And the sharks I rather leave alone to their job. I'm happy with catfish of any type of jacks. Love their red and fatty meats a lot. Any ideas?

I've been subscribed for a while now and was most interested in how you play big fish with the rod under your leg. It makes complete sense. I'm a very short guy who fishes for small sharks(20 kilo up to 100) . Do your rods have a longer butt? Even better can you recommend something? Cheers. Love your work.

On your 130 class reel, how many yards of 200 lb braid, and how many yards of 200 lb mono (top shot) do you put on your reel? I noticed you mentioned you prefer the braid to not even get wet.

Hey Josh - great video with a lot of good information! My current setup for surf fishing for shark below: - Penn Fierce 8000 / 12ft Tsunami Trophy Surf Hvy - 400-500yds of PowerPro 65lb braid - Leader is 500lb mono w/ double strand steel wire (built per your video on shark leaders) My question would be relating to your comment on using mono with braid backing. Should I take some braid off and add mono? If so, any tips on what kind/size/how much, as well as how to connect the two? Would it even be necessary? Targeting anywhere from 3-6 ft blacktips. Thanks.

+buck91hunter For spinning reels, I would recommend using all braid. That's what I use. I use a 5-7ft mono shock leader on my leader.
