SharkPuppyTV went to Albuquerque, New Mexico to feature Tim of Tim's Place, because he's crushing the idea of customer service by "Making Kindness Cool" in his business. When customers enter his restaurant they get a hug from Tim, and let me tell you, when you're in that place, you can feel the love.
It was 3/18/13, and my buddy and I were on our way to Anthony Robbins Unleash the Power Within, in LA, where I was going to attempt stage 2 of breaking the Guinness World Record for "Most Hugs in an Hour". I saw Tim's video, and seeing that we're "brothers in arms", haha, I had to stop in and meet this extraordinary young man.
Technically speaking, Tim has Down Syndrome. He's the only known restaurant owner with this "disability", but in my humble opinion, I see no disability here. He's on point, vigilant of his customer and employee needs, and doing a good job of advertising his restaurant, to say the least.
International Down Syndrome day was 3 days away, and I asked Tim if he had anything to share with fellow DS'ers, and he, almost dismissively said, "I'll have to get back to you about that." I asked Dan, his brother and operations manager about it and he said "We never treated him like he had a disability. He was just like everyone else." Think about that when you perceive anyone as different. It may just be in your head...
I haven't broken the world record, yet, but I plan on it this year. Maybe Tim can come, too.
