It's okay. Every episode follows the same principles however: Sharpe gets in trouble, Sharpe meets a sexy woman and Sharpe acts like a Maverick by breaking the rules but in the end saves the day. Every single episode..........
@cmdfarsight

@isaacjohnson4123 That applies to most tv and film series though. Take every Bond and Mission Impossible films for example or nearly every western hemisphere detective drama from Holmes to CSI. Bad guy does something bad, good guy investigates, good guy wins every time. Thing is, it's a sequence of events but as long as the sequence is told with a different protagonist and environment then it is accepted.
@isaacjohnson4123

@cmdfarsight

@isaacjohnson4123 I suppose it's just a winning formula. What I find more interesting is that on the whole, audiences want to see the good guys win. I doubt anyone ever said they wanted to see Goldfinger irradiate the US or Voldemort to subjugate humans. It's interesting on a social psychology level.

Well, sort of...but Tolkien wrote before this and what he was writing about was supposed to be set long long before this. So I think I would say Boromir came first.
@DragonHeart613

@@KittyStarlight I was referring to the order in which Sean Bean's most iconic roles happened, not that the Sharpe novels were written first before Tolkien's Middle-Earth saga. Everyone knows that Tolkien wrote his stories first long before both Bernard Cornwall & George R.R. Martin were even born. I was referring to the fact that before portraying either Boromir or Ned Stark, Sean Bean was first Richard Sharpe. Sharpe is the role that launched Sean Bean's amazing career and led to him ultimately being cast as Boromir in The Lord of The Rings Trilogy and than later on being cast as Lord Ned Stark in Game of Thrones.
@KittyStarlight

@@DragonHeart613 I know. I figured that out right after I left the thread. My phone decided to get too slow soon after so I didn't come back right away like I originally meant to. But anyway. I was going to say something about, "If you are referring to in what order those parts were played by that actor then you are right" or something. I have known about Tolkien's characters since way before there ever were any live-action movie actors who played them (the animated versions were already around when I was a young kid, or at least an older young girl anyway) so to me it just seems weird at first glance when someone says that Sharpe was before Boromir (well, of course that's true if you mean in what order the roles were played but that's not what I think of first). It's like if someone said "before Queen Victoria there was Elizabeth II" or "before Elizabeth I there was Victoria" and people go "huh?" or "what?" because the first thing they think of is "British history doesn't go in that order" but the other person is thinking of which actress may have played which role in which movie in which year. Anyway I got what you meant but I got it *after* I had already posted and already gone on to a different video, and then right after that my phone started being too slow with the internet connection so I turned it off for the rest of the day so it could take a break for a while. Thank you for the interesting clarification though. ^___^

I doubt there's many, even in a modern army, who'd have tolerated or survived the discipline of the 18th century British Army. Or Navy, for that matter. My great-great-grand-uncle served with Nelson at Trafalgar and was lucky in that he merely lost an arm. The carnage on those old battlefields, and after from wounds, was unbelievable. No sitting at computers and firing drones from thousands of miles away in those days.
