This video gave me flashbacks to when I was sharpening something similarly small on a whetstone, and completely sanded away the skin on my fingertips. It was wet and felt so smooth to the touch, I didn't even notice until blood started slowly spreading out over the stone!

I'm not sure why I have a phobia if you can even call it that. I just get anxiety when I have to handle knives and I hate the sounds they make when they cut or when they are sharpened. This guys videos have made me realize that although knives can be terrifying, they're just tools to help us and they aren't so scary after all. Still hate the sound though.

My family's superstition was always "If the shavings from sharpening your pencil, can make a full circle without falling apart - you'll have good luck all day" At least, that's what it was until I turned 9. Then it was "Only children should use a pencil sharpener - and even then, only for safety reasons. Happy birthday - here's your first pen knife"
