Dude, that was awesome, and thank you so much. You make that look so easy, and once I’ve learned it thanks to you I’ve found out that it really is. I really dug your guitar. I have a Peavey Millennium bass in J style that I traded a guy a piece of gear worth less than $100 for. It sounds fantastic. It was the house bass for our jam band at the time, and now it’s my house bass. I sometimes write on it, or plug it in when there’s a few other guitar players over.

Nice lesion nice breakdown of Shattered - great pointing out the difference between the live versions of Shattered and the studio cut. When you read the instrumental credits on the record sleeve on Some Girls it shows so many different over dubs & percussion instruments and R. Wood on Bass & pedal Steel guitar and Keith on the solo. The Stones arranged their live versions with R. Wood playing the solo.. This is one of those songs the Stones have had a hard time recreating the studio sound and replicating that dirty murky sluggish sound live on stage.. I got to see the Stones in 1975 NYC MSG - 1989 Steel Wheels Shay Stadium too bad I never saw them play one of my favorites the Shaddoobie Song.. Go Ahead Bit The Big Apple Don't Mind The Maggots . Great Lesson ..

So I bought the single Miss You and the B-Side was Far Away Eyes, I said to myself OK a country song - then F.M. radio played the whole Some Girls album I looked up at the sky and said thank you there is a God !! Some Girls is a Killer album and Shattered was the icing on the cake. Peace.

The way Keith and Ron played in the studio version was great. The sound must have been cutting edge for 1977-1978 when they were recording Some Girls. Like you mentioned, you can watch the live performance specifically in Arizona in 1981 where Keith plays Shattered the was you explained with a tempo that's much faster than the studio version. It loses it's funky sound like you mentioned. Plus that was when the disco/punk/dance music stuff was going on in New York City, where the album was mainly recorded according to Mick.

Unless its a specific melody line within a solo, one may as well be free and not worry about every note on the original recording....I mean, how many of those guitarists play it the same way live? That's especially true with Page's solos....ample room for personal creativity, so long as you're playing in the same key, or at least the relative major/minor;)

My favorite super cool Stones song. Took me weeks and many attempts to sing it, but I got it perfectly. Hard song 'cause Jagger throws the lines in, it seems, randomly. It's not sung on the rhythm. But I can do it now w/o thinking. It's on automatic. BTW I call it 'The New Yohk City National Anthem". It describes NYC to a "t". " I cant give it away on Seventh Avenue" (the garment district). "Shmata, shmata, shmata, shmata" (Yiddish for "rags"). Yep, it's all about NY. "My brains is battered, splattered all over . . .Manhattan". You did a pretty good job of it. I think in the record they run the riff thru a Leslie or something. It has a rolling sound. What you think ?

I have a Squier Telecaster lefty I got a year and a half ago or so, it actually sounds good, and it does stay in tune! I love it. The only thing is the bridge that comes stock isn't great, I had a loose high E saddle screw keeps coming loose, I replaced it with some better shorter ones, but still have to watch it. Replacing the bridge on it may be a big improvement. Or just get a better Tele, a Player one or whatever if you upgrade. I love the neck/action on the Squier that smooth blonde wood neck is great!
