Had they delayed it until a free-er release schedule without as much competition I think it could have been plenty improved. I do think plenty of the criticism is the result of a rushed release schedule, and the lack of a half pipe mode and racing seems to be more due to engine limitations since, compared to SSX at least, the game is slower and doesn't seem to be a good fit for that. I'd rate the game a lot higher than Jak does, and I didn't really have much of an issue with bonking (save the Kirkwood bonking on the animals, which yes, is tedious and can go fuck itself). I wouldn't call it outright bad, but I think Jak's trying to approach this like he would a Tony Hawk game which is plenty of the issue. With any snowboarding game, approach matters much more and you need to know the layout of everything better. You aren't going to grind down entire sections of the mountain on SSX: The Tour, which I've done, without setting up your line in your mind ahead of time and knowing what you're going to hit and when you're going to hit it. Pulling off an insane run like that is a massive part of the enjoyment after all. That being said, the vehicles were an excellent idea, and if space could be found for them, yeah, I'd be down for more and more varied respawns, especially if there's a bit of challenge terrain where a lot of gaps get situated. Adding a groove mode similar to Wakeboarding Unleased, or a "lives system" of sorts where if you score enough when you hit a vehicle, you get time added back, also would have helped, since if you missed a goal, you can at least lap it without restarting, especially if it's a challenge late in the course.

💯🔥🔥🔥 📺 There is one thing this game has that no other snowboarding or Skateboarding game has, even today. SPLIT SCREEN PUSH MODE. Two player split screen multiplayer where who ever does better tricks Literally gets to push your opponent side of the split screen in in real time. Shit was incredible, I use to play with my little brother, I would do better tricks, so his screen was getting smaller and smaller, he could barely see, but he would make some insane comebacks and Push my side of the split screen in! And the fun thing is.., anybody else watching us play can instantly tell who’s winning bc the it was never a even line in the middle of the tv screen game like every other split-screen multiplayer game.

This guy couldn't be more wrong. Many of his gripes are simply that he isn't skilled enough to complete some of the difficult challenges the game presents. There are many things he points out that are wrong. So 1st off why do we have to have every race to pick from in the character building mode? There weren't many black snowboarders back in those days anyway and they DO have a black one and a brown latina skin as well so I guess this is a flaw? Just foolish virtue signaling. Nobody cared about " diversity" back then it was a non-issue. 2nd, you say the soundtrack is all the same style but that is 100% bullkshit. Maybe try not speaking the opposite of the truth next time eh? There is hip hop and techno songs mixed in there and the sountrack is insanely awesome. The reason you go through the gondola is because it has large glass windows. If you want to "bonk" something you have to jump onto it from above and tap "ollie"( I think its that button). I Didn't understand it until I watched the game's repeating playback and saw the CPU do it. The fact that you are forced to go downhill is an awesome and realistic aspect of this game and is a blessing and not a curse. The game is fun as hell and runs super smooth. Yes it's hard, but that's the fun! One of my favorite games ever. Don't listen to this dood. For its time this game was a home run and still holds up today.

Started this game a week or two ago out of curiosity and I'm having a decent time with it most of the time. There are some cool things about it. But yeah... the downhill concept does not fit well with all the level objectives that have you searching for things on the map. That gets frustrating quick. And I also have my gripes with the bonk tricks. It took me forever to understand how you're supposed to do them (despite the button prompts being very simple) and there are too many goals requiring it on hard to reach objects. lol I spent full two hours trying to bonk the goshdarn bird in the "bonk the wildlife" goal that's mentioned in the video.

The Snowboard Kids games and SSX Tricky were great parts of my childhood. The Snowboard Kids games are more like kart racers, and less Xtreme racing like the SSX series was. While the first Snowboard Kids is good, it's controls are just a bit too stiff, and the rubber banding AI gets insane in the last third of the game. It also requires a controller pak to save data. Bleugh. The second game is one of my favorite games of all time, and my second favorite N64 game, behind Majora's Mask. Smoother controls, better character animation, fun cutscenes, more unlockables, built in battery save, and better AI balancing. Too bad it's so expensive on the second hand market now, especially for you guys. Funny enough, Australia was the only PAL region where the sequel was released. I adore the game to death, but I wouldn't pay what you guys have to pay for it now.

Then, they left it in the porch and didn’t tell anyone... right at the beginning of winter. There was a snowstorm, and the game got buried on my deck for like, 2 months. It was a warm year, so one day the snow melted enough to reveal the package, and it actually still worked just fine! Honestly not terrible. Maybe not as good as Amped, but it did feel tighter, in my opinion.
