In response to a request, Shaun McKenna reads one of his own lyrics, The Big Adventures, from The Return of Peter Pan. The music is by Stephen Keeling. The song recording can be found in the McKennaKeeling playlist here on KZitem.
The big adventures
Aren’t what you think them.
The big adventures
Are things that just happen along.
You don’t plan them
And sometimes you don’t want them
But you step in their path
And they sweep you away
Like an old familiar song.
Sometimes they dazzle
Sometimes they shimmer
Each big adventure
Brings something you didn’t foresee.
Heart starts pumping
And every nerve will tingle
As your breathing gets tighter
The colours get brighter,
You’re all you hoped you’d be.
You might be sitting wondering what to do today
You might be stretched out lazing
You’re suddenly aware
Today is going to be an extra special day
And something’s in the air.
When skies are gloomy
When life seems boring
Don’t be downhearted
But let lucky chance play its part.
It might happen,
Some awfully big adventure
For there’s no telling when
Adventures are about to start.
A big adventure’s going to start.
Soon too, I can feel it on the wind.
