+nick shaves Thank you very much for your how to shave playlist. I've been shaving balled every since high school and I recently transitioned from Cartridge Razors and can gels. My first Soap for wet shaving is Barrister and Mann Saville and Taylor of old bond street Coconut. Your chanel is the foundation to multiple youtube channels like yours. Shaving has been part of my habits for my life. The key that made me so excited for my package coming through the mail and door step was just witnessing your channels and others like yours. I'm sold just based on how the community enjoys it. Thank you again for providing the support and resources to transition seamlessly.

Nick, I am relatively new to DE shaving. My son got me started just before Thanksgiving 2015. During college he was looking for a way to shave some dollars out of his budget and discovered DE shaving. Your videos have been a tremendous help to me both for technique tips and reviews of various products. You have helped shorten the learning curve tremendously. I now look forward to my shaving experience each time. Thanks! Hope your year ahead is full of good health and success in your chosen career.

Nick, you are the man! I found your channel last year when I first started wet shaving when de safety razor and became a subscriber right off the bat. Those personna lab blues are awesome blades. I never would have even known about them if not for you. I got a sleeve of them from Amazon and thanks to someone a friend I had a gc at amazon so I got those blades for crazy cheap! I got myself a couple times with them but not the blade's fault it was my own because i do have an outdoor cat and he scratched me the other day and I opened it up. They were incredible blades. Awesome video and I can't wait to get some of these products and try them! Happy New Year!

Great stuff Nick. I still use a tip you posted long ago. Adding a touch of water to your shave soap, letting it sit and then using that goopy water as a bit of a pre-shave. I dig your videos and remember my first de shaves and seeing you mention the environmental benefits of DE shavings. One of the main reasons I switched . Bravo man!

I started wet shaving very early 2015. So every product was new to me. These are the products I enjoyed the most. -Razor wise Gem 1912/ Schick Injector type L (honorable mention Parker 26C) -Blade wise Astra SP/Rapira Swedish Supersteel. -Soap B&M Bay Rum/ Soap Commander Fortitude - Brush Razorock Plissoft Barber/ Omega 10049/ Semogue SOC Those were my top picks. Had to pick more than one for most categories as there are so many great options out there. My single edge razors did edge out all of my DE razors like the De89/ 102/ 26C, but it was a close call. I just prefer the shave from a thicker blade it seems.

Great video Nick. I agree with a lot of your recommendations. The green super stainless blades are my go to blade in pretty much every razor I have tried. My most recent shave used them in a newly acquired vintage Gillette "new" short comb and it may have just been one of the best shaves of my life. B&M has some great scents and awesome performance. The Semogue 830 was actually my starter brush and once broken in it is a great brush but I soon became a full synthetic convert. I have both of the RazoRock Plissoft versions but my favorite is the barber handle. They have the perfect amount of splay and density and make some amazing lather. I even like to face lather with them which is something I do not do with natural brushes. It is one that should be on every "beginners" suggestion list. Lucky Tiger is some great stuff, also just used it for the first time today. A great citrus scent that disappears quickly (for good or bad) and leaves a nice smooth feeling. I didn't find it hydrating or drying. I also liked Thayers Rose and unscented witch hazel as an alternative alcohol free option. Happy New Year

+Nick Shaves great choices, as always. I'm a huge fan of the Barrister and Mann products too, and yeah, that scent is killer. Also picked up one of their latha brand soaps at Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC a few months ago ... totally solid product and a great value. I've been into the creams recently, especially TOBS (even though they were pretty snobby with me at their London shop). My go-to razor this year is the 37C --after going to the slant, I can't seem to go back! Hi Nick, I agree on the Boar Brushes, they tend to have a bit more integrity and allow you to apply more pressure both to the soap and your face. I don't know if it is a phase for me but I now have 2 of them, the Semogue and the Omega. I also have several badger brushes as well and will trade off once in a while. I have fine Accoutrements American Barber and fresh Vetiver, will try the Platinum as per your recommendations.

I agree with tallow being great (for me anyway). I get less irritation / burning from most of them for some reason and if properly dried, they can last quite a while for use in a rotation. My fav brushes are Semogue 830, Savile Row 3326 and Stirling 'Kong' 26mm. I haven't been too happy with the SOC 2 Badger to date.

Great stuff as always, mate!! Happy new year, Nick... I wish all good in your life and keep up these great videos! My gear of the year was: Brush: the Condor sm3050. It's a simple brazilian boar brush that it's just invincible... Nothing can beat that! So smooth... There isn't much hair, but for me it's just what I need. Blade: Supermax platinum plus. Just gets the job done with no headache haha Safety razor: brazilian Gillette 'superspeed' from the 50's. I bought one because I really enjoyed the one that my father has. Soap: limited edition from a soap factory here from brazil called Ingá Saboaria Artesanal, and the soap is called "Pé no Gelo". It was made because we at the forum "barbear classico" wanted something for the summer. I don't recall the exact formula (I'm already going to sleep lol) but you should know that it was used just fine stuff to do that soap, as the others soaps, they are the best thing there are out there. I recommend you to buy something from them. Actually, it's just a guy, if I recall. After shave: I use a simple after shave from nivea called Silver protect... It feels and smells good.

As always really good video with some excellent recommendations and tips. Like the choice of blades, soap and brush. My experience with Merkur is different however. I bought the 33C Classic Safety Razor (which has the same head as the 34C?) already the surface on the head has deteriorated so whatever thin coating there was worn away and looks tacky. It's light enough to be used as a travel razor and that it is what I shall use it for. iKon much better build. Worth paying a bit extra for quality materials and build

I like them both, I switch back and forth. The adjustable one can go from almost no cutting action to very very aggressive I go to that one for a scary close shave. Your channel rocks. Btw, produced is not a word you use to describe a product that is you make. Something like a TV show or movie is produced. The word you want is manufactured. Sorry for being a grammar Nazi, but it's a common mistake. Thumbs up bro!
@Crazy4CaitlinHart
8 жыл бұрын
+Sam Carmack OK I just spent 30 minuets researching this - Everything manufactured is also produced - produce is general and manufacture is a more specific form of production. You can produce a car, razor, poem or idea but manufacture is just specifically produced by mechanical means. No grammar for YOU! lol
@planetjanet3845

Crazy4CaitlinHart planetjanet this is America dammit! I don't care if the Nazis produce! Okay you may have won this round, but I would still say that manufactured is more fitting for razor blades considering that there is no real development that is needed in the design front, they just need to be made. Production, yes it works. Produced? Okay George Lucas. I say this as a manufacturing engineer, not a grammar Nazi (I hate Nazis), say I may be partial to the term

Hey Nick Im curious, I bought a Parker 26c and used it with Persona blades but it left some stubble behind after multiple passes. Do you think using the Merkur 34C and the Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless blades will be a better result? Thank again. (PS ordered the Platinum after shave thank for the recommend.)
