Life hack: just rub up on a tall curb a couple times and these come off much quicker. Do it a few times and you get this really smooth transition between your wheel and tire too.

They’re called vent spews lol. Supposedly they allow gas to escape the mold during the vulcanizing process during tire manufacturing but after manufacturing they have no practical purpose but they can let you know that your tires are actually new

Theyre designed as wear indicators. There on all parts of the tire including tread. 50 -100 miles and they rub off tho.

I used to do this as a bike mechanic. Some tires had these really close to the rim and the hairs would touch the brake pads while they were in the correct position.

Those come from the curing process of the tire. Vents in the mold allow any air to release from the cover while it's in the curing process creating these. I work at a Michelin plant and have worked in the curing department.

Shaved tires are when you have an AWD vehicle and need to get a single one replaced and have it perpusly worn down since if the new tires tread depth difference is greater then 3/32nds then your gonna be fucking up your differentials and transmission

For anybody who’s wondering no pulling them off doesn’t do anything those rubber hairs were just holes in the tire mold and those holes were made to let the rubber dry faster

How much faster? Weight savings alone on rotating mass is incredible!
