Product reviews are great too. I’ve discovered a lot of products watching this channel that I never knew about, such as the Timeless razors, Timeless adjustable shave brush, and Thayers facial toner. The razor and toner have been real game changers for me.

Thanks for another great video. I usually let the Thayers dry before moving on to balm and aftershave but will give a quicker application a try. Also you are not kidding on letting the lather set. It makes that first pass oh so much nicer. Funny I always find something new or not thought of even in your basic videos. Keep up the good work.

Thanks so much for the info. I love Thayer’s so much after a wet shave. I recommend applying it with a tiny amount of argan oil. After my face and head are clean, shaved, disinfected with the alum block, and rinsed I like to mix a few drops of the argan oil with a little palm puddle of Thayer’s and apply it all over my head and face and leave it to dry. It soothes any razor burn and leaves my skin nicely moisturized.

Well tried my first shave this morning w the T2 very different from my Thorn. I went all in and put a Feather blade in, I now know what an aggressive shave feels like...Start at setting 1 and quickly moved up to 3. Next shave I'll put a Gillette Nacet in and give that a try. I'm new to safety razors so I was a bit intimidated 😳 Thanks for taking your time to respond.

Watching your videos, finally made me break down and buy a timeless adjustable brush handle. I have a G5, B and C knot on the way from AP shaves as well. Something tells me that handle is going to end up costing me a lot of money in the future knot purchases lol.
@OhioShaves

But it's gonna save you so much money in the long run. Now you can just buy knots instead of buying a hole handle and a brush which can cost a fortune. I do agree that you're going to spend more money because it's so easy to swap them out. I've already been researching knots just to find out which one is the best synthetic. I can't wait to do a video about it. The journey is still going on.

Thanks for the video mate and all you do for new people coming to the hobby. For someone who has sensitive skin and recently had a dermatitis breakout on my face its hard to get a good shave sometimes. Everyone has to start somewhere and I think it's good that you mix it up with razor reviews, soap and product recommendations and beginner guides. There are lots of good razors for people with any budget the same with soaps and creams. You can get something cheap but still good quaility like proraso, one of my go to's and then get into artisan soaps and things like triple milled soaps which may cost more but will last a long time. I suggest everyone start of with a face or beard wash proraso, king c gillette and nivea make good options. Followed by a preshave which can be as simple and the water that you have used to soak your puck or an oil or my favourites which is geo f trumpers skin food which doubles as a pre shave and aftershave balm. All that I suggest for people is that you avoid things like parabens and silicates if possible especially if you have sensitive skin. Water, water and more water if you have trouble with razor not gliding you can even use the preshave for every pass. Personally I use lukewarm water in winter and cold water in summer I seem to get less ingrowns than I do if I use scalding hot water. As for blades the three mains I use are Astra's, Hensons and Persona Comfort Coats. Personnas if I have a few days growth because they are a sharper and the Astra's I stocked up on before they moved their factory and after trying out a few blades I settled on the hensons they are very similar to the Astra's. I only use a blade for two shaves then get rid of it with my coarse beard they seem to loose their edge or their coatings to make them smoother very quickly. Sorry for the long comment but I was just feeling like going on for a bit hope it helps someone out have a great day everyone.

A great thing to do is to dry your alum block with a towel or something. If you run it under the water, the water soaks into it and gradually melts it, making it last shorter. I personally don't even put water on it, I just make sure I have enough water on my face that will melt the very upper layer of the alum. This way it lasts so much longer (talking from experience). Great shave as usual, you make it look effortless!

Which Nivea balm are you using? Without realizing that they have different formulations, I purchased the "sensitive cool." It is made with seaweed extract, which apparently has the same cooling effect as menthol, but not as overpowering as menthol for those that are not a fan of menthol. Definitely a great product.

I’ve tried a little less and I’ve tried a little more water. I just can’t seem to get the lather nice and thick like you do. I’ve been trying to find your video where it shows you mixing the lather in the bowl. You added water to it a couple of times to get the right lather. You mentioned something about the bubbles in the mixture. Could you possibly send me the link to your video on this? Thanks! Ram

My hair seems to grow the same direction as yours but man, my neck I only do with the grain. If I try against the grain on my lower neck I end up regretting it, usually some redness or bumps that go away after a day or so. Think it may be the way it is, pretty sure its not technique at this point but every now n then I give it another go. Going to try different soaps next, could be the magic ticket, only used Goodfellas Sea Citrus soap.

@@OhioShaves I have but I get tugging with more mild blades around my chin area and Adams apple area. Not sure if that means I need more pressure with milder blades? Also seem to have the best shaves with the Blackland OC Blackbird daily or every other day. Rex Envoy and Sentry are great and the Blackbird Lite plate too. Just seems feather works best for me. Think you'll love the Blackland razors, will be nice to see reviews.

A shower isn't needed if I take the time to face lather. Maybe it's less of an issue because I'm a daily shaver. Face lathering exfoliates the skin and hydrates the beard. Of course, everyone's skin and beard are different. In my case, I can shave with, across, or against the growth on the first pass. It just takes time to decide how your beard grows and if you have sensitive skin. Your tips are definitely a good starting point for beginners.
