Reminds me of a husband & wife I knew, who were from Pomona. They lived happily married for years, going to Venice Beach to work out at Gold’s Gym each summer. Then, they would spend fun time together, after finishing their heavy workouts, to take turns burying each other in the sand, before heading back, with that long drive, to Pomona. Last winter, the wife, I’ll use the false name Sheila, to protect her identity, was involved in a terrible accident that left her with only one arm! But, the couple managed, last summer, to still take that long, crowded fwy. drive to go to Venice beach. Sheila, while she couldn’t lift weights, was able to still continue with the couple’s yearly ritual of burying each other in the sand. With only her right arm, Sheila was able to bury , Sam,( his real name) in the sand! What perseverance & willpower she demonstrated. This next summer she plans to go back to Venice Beach to dig Sam up.

My entire arm was paralyzed at birth due to the injury. However I was blessed with a surgery when I was five by the man that created the surgery to help me be able to use my arm. I now live a normal life and no one is aware of my disability until I tell them. I have limits but nothing is impossible. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. As a therapist, I can understand what she is saying about feeling different. However, from a practical standpoint, she must protect the shoulder and arm that function normally. Doing an exercise like this with the amount of weight is asking for trouble. What will she do when both arms functions are limited? Is it worth the risk. Being a PT for 25 years and treating those injured in the gym, no one has said it was worth it. Even though you cand hear me I applauded after that. I played this for my God son (he has no left arm from the shoulder down) he is 16 he was a star athlete (football, BMX, dirt bikes). He was hit by a car at 14 years old, and that's when he lost half his arm. He has been depressed because he can not play sports and has stopped any kind of workouts. He had me send him this link. He told me you are his hero and role model. He asked me if him and I work out starting today if I can still customize his qaud, and snowmobile so can ride again. Once he strengthens his other arm. Thank you. You brought my god son back to us. You may not wear a cape but to my family you are a super hero

@@misfitm1457I think as we get older we feel the need to fit in less, I certainly have since I became disabled. My disabilities are invisible but not inaudible, everyone can hear the wheezing and the impact of my pain. However, my wife's hemiparuplegia is very visible and total strangers will help her. Then I get 'the look', they don’t realise I can’t help and she wouldn’t be happy if I did without her asking. I also have CPTSD from my childhood over 50 years ago, before I got sober nearly 30 years ago I was quite good at showing the world its impact. Now I’m sober that’s completely invisible and managed in a far healthier way, though I can’t have medication as it will interfere with my medication. In other words, I feel what you are saying but I still like to see young people accepting their differences younger.

This is actually a huge motivation for me. I have brachial plexus palsy in my right shoulder, I was born with it, and it really restricts me. It hurts to do push ups and I can't do pull ups or chin ups properly. I usually focus on martial arts so I can strengthen my core and legs, but, I think I'm gonna keep trying with my arms. I'm going to try different methods and see what works for me. I'm supposed to be seeing a orthopedist soon, maybe they can give me some tips. Thank You for this, I needed it♥️
