One of the best sounds in all of musicdom is the 4th "yeah" which can be heard only twice, at the end of the intro and at end of song. Perfect harmony and thats not easy singing live with all the amps so close. And with Paul bobbling his head left to right, John doing the same front to back and Ringo at a 45 degree angle like built in bio metronomes, no wonder the timing was always perfect! George instead bobbled his whole torso front to back. Once you notice, you can't unsee this incredible Beatles phenomenon.

It's Ringo's drums that drives this song. I love that swishing sound on the cymbals, uniquely Ringo. Also the modulations are perfect and he leaves something left for the ending. I appreciate this song more than when it came out. Yes, later music were maybe more advanced, but right from the beginning there was already something primal to their music.

Listen to Ringo's drumming on the chorus,I had never noticed how busy and heavy his drumming on this song was in this song before,absolutely outstanding,especially considering when it was recorded and how pop drumming had traditionally been before the arrival of the Beatles,Ringo Starr is an excellent drummer and Ringo was the absolute perfect drummer for the Beatles. @shazmeister2005

When you think about it it’s not really. In their early days there was very little studio trickery available, indeed The Beatles were pioneers in developing studio trickery as they progressed through their career together. This was very much 4 men, 3 guitars, 3 amplifiers and a drum kit and that’s it, they recorded it they way they played it. They didn’t do overdubs and things like that in the early days, it was recorded live in the studio with all 4 of them playing and singing together.
@lucalodirizzini

@shazmeister2005

One of the things they did do in the studio was double track the lead vocal. John Lennon famously hated doing this and didn’t make much effort to sing exactly the same line he did previously. To get round this they developed an auto double track system which takes a single vocal line and doubles it, applying some effects to it to give the impression its two very close but different vocal lines. That’s an effect used to this day to thicken up vocal lines. Personally I don’t think it is as good as a singer doing it themselves, doesn’t sound as natural and is a bit cold, personally I prefer Lennon singing two lines and them not perfectly matching it’s more human. The other extreme is someone like Freddie Mercury who was so good at doing it that you almost can’t tell it’s double tracked and has an amazing very subtle phaser / chorus type effect on his vocals, it has a quality that you can’t achieve through studio trickery.

This is from a Swedish TV show in autumn 1963, just before they became really big. The Swedish audience was taken by surprise and stayed quite calm during the concert. That's why their music goes through so well. I was 10 years old and saw this program together with my family.

@@robrussell5329 I'm not going to argue against that, although I can hear differences compared to the single version: There's a distortion on John's voice and the tuning is slighty lower on the single version. From 1:15 to 1:28 I just love that sequence between Paul and George. I love how Paul gives George a big smile. Like this was at their peak when they actually enjoyed playing with each other. Notbing beats the early Beatles in my mind js. 63-65 was their peak years in my opinion.

OK...I confess: If I was a girl I'd be in love with Paul. ADDED COMMENT ALERT: Alright you guys, I decided to add this to my famous first line. First, I meant what I said. Second, it was not in any way a hint that I am gay - though some here have suggested so...and even wanted to believe that. Sorry, but no go. It was a humorous way of complimenting him. As for sexual attraction, mine is very much in favor of the ladies. Sorry if you are disappointed or determined to believe otherwise. So let me just some it up for those who believe me and those who don't. To me, ladies are beautiful in every way. Their faces make ours look ugly. Their hair is so far beyond men's that the Bible even says, "The glory of the woman is her hair." As for women's bodies, really? Their breasts are beyond any man's. They are soft, womanly, and feminine beyond description.Their bottoms are so attractive and sexy that if a man doesn't take care and control his manners, he might gock like an idiot and stare like a moron. Are men's legs anything compared to women's? Or, speaking more about the female face, their eyes, their noses, their lips, their cheeks, chins, foreheads, ears and neck are beautiful beyond compare. That is how I see them. If this disappoints some of you, well, the only opinion about women that matters to me is my own. No offense intended for anything I have said, and no offense intended toward the gay community. In the end, the only one who cares about our opinions are ourselves.

Great to see the band and the people in audience all having such a good time out on the town. You see this in nearly all of these early Beatles small locale performances. @@OneEyedKeys you sound like someone who needs to be comparing all the time? Why? Would Paul be anyone without John and the boys or would John be anyone without Paul and the boys? The answer is most likely no for both of them. We definitely wouldn’t be talking about either one of them if it wasn’t for the other. First of all John started (and ended) The Beatles so had he not invited Paul to become a Beatle we most likely would never have heard of Paul or probably the Beatles. As a Beatles fan more than a John, Paul, George or Ringo fan, you realize that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to compare John and Paul or George, etc... John had what Paul didn’t, Paul had what John didn’t, and George had what neither of them had, and Ringo was the perfect genius beat behind it all. Any delusional McCartney fan who thinks Paul is “the best Beatle” doesn’t realize Paul without John, George and Ringo is Wings! Not a knock on Paul, he was the perfect bass player, co-songwriter & multi instrumentalist for the Beatles. But just because he’s still alive and making music doesn’t make him any better than the other 3. I mean John was the founder and leader of the Beatles and that’s how all his music peers of the time saw him which is why David Bowie, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones all chose to collaborate with John out of all the Beatles. Everybody wanted to play with John. Either way, it’s not John or Paul that made the magic, it’s the chemistry of all 4 Beatles!

I remember as a pre-teen seeing them for the first time on Ed Sullivan. The next day it was all us kids could talk about at school. “Did you see The Beatles last night on Ed Sullivan” ?! We went crazy. The boys wanted to be them and us girls were trying to decide which one we would marry. (we actually believed that we had a chance) 😂 Boys trying to get away with wearing their hair like that. The ones whose parents allowed them to do it were the coolest. The other poor boys had to wait till they got to school, went to the bathroom and tried to get the Brill Cream out of their hair 😂 The rest is history. Total game changer in the world of music. It was so much fun. We were young and blissfully ignorant of what else was going on in the world. Life was very innocent. I miss it and if I could go back I would in an instant. I’d be able to be with my parents, grandparents, great friends, all the kids in the neighborhood. It was a great time for us to be alive.

One of the best (if not the best) single live performance of this track they ever pulled off (well, that we have audio of, at least). Such energy. It still catches people off guard when I introduce them to the Beatles. They never expect that a band from the 60's, the early 60's no less, can sound so fresh and energetic. There will never be another BEATLES.
@nemes1s_571

One day, whilst strolling across youtube, I stumbled across this video, it was some very old 60s song called "She Loves You" . I was really intrigued and played, and immediately fell in love with this song. The "yeah, yeah, yeah" refrain is probably the catchiest thing I have heard in my life. At the end of the song I was astonished, it sounded so real, so energetic, and so infectious with joy, and light years better than the music we have today, even if it lasted barely over 2 minutes. One time I played it at least 10 times... in one day (I was so in live with it as you can tell). I then searched for their other songs like Back In The U.S.S.R. and Help!, and both fell in love with those too. After listening to their other works (and loving them) I realized that literally NONE of what I heard was at all bad or underwhelming, decent at best. Then I stumble across songs like Strawberry Fields Forever and A Day In The Life, which blew my mind. I never thought music could sound like this. In my opinion, The Beatles are without a doubt the greatest band of all time,. Their catchy songs, their songwriting, their influence around the world; no one will ever match them. And I have this song to thank, for introducing them to my life.
