Knitty is shown way more affection then Knotty. It's well known and documented the least amount of affection from mom to child creates insecurities and discomfort. That says enough... That is why Knitty is way more confident then Knotty ever was. The more affection from mom to child creates confidence.

*Big happy sigh* Arroz, that was such a wonderful video. Thank you. It does our hearts good to see Kniitty being a happy bouncing baby, with lots of family to love and care for him. Knotty is an exceptional young boy. Though his mother gave him a very hard start, he's got it within him to be strong, caring and a loving brother. It's true. Knitty is so different from Knotty. It seems as though Gyspy has mellowed, gained strength from a strong baby, and the troop appears more accepting of her. It is a very complex society, and we only see tiny snippets of it, but I love seeing Dy get some positive physical contact with the others. Knitty, well he's just a joy to watch, his serious little face, yet carefree personality make him as special as our darling Knotty, yet so individual. Just like us.

Yea Arroz, you've mentioned several times that Gypsy is probably suffering from some form of mental illness. She has that look about her in her face, you can kind of tell she's not all there. The way she treated poor Knotty was just sad. I saw her knock him out of a tree because he tried to go to her. And since this video, which is about a year and a half old, look how she's been. I don't know how long she was loving and nurturing to Kailey but it wasn't long before she was stuck with the babysitter instead of being where she belonged, with her mom. Kailey, like Knotty had to learn to find their own food way too young. But Kailey wasn't as skittish and would beg when cars pulled up. I believe you speculated that she may have been run over, I suspect you're right. I've had arguments with people on here when I said she was a pretty crappy mom and wished she'd get sterilized instead of some of these other females that actually want to have babies. Gypsy clearly does not have the desire. It appears to mostly be a burden to her. Yes, she's really tolerant to Knitty but we've seen her be loving at certain times towards her young one minute and be an absolute douche the next. I do wish the people that sterlize these animals followed them and picked out the ones that terrible mothers and take them, via a dart gun, and fix them. I wouldn't loose sleep if Gypsy disappeared. I'm far more concerned about all the babies that she'll have and will suffer under her fickle mood swings and end up emotionally wounded like Knotty seems to be or dead like Kailey is. I feels the same way about Tina. I couldn't care less about Tina specifically, but if I have to watch her have another baby and rob it's pouches I'm going to have to hire a hitman or something. It's just so pitiful to see these babies suffer and struggle. Teeny vacuums to road with her mouth for crumbs only to have them stolen from her and from her own mother? No, that should not be allowed to continue to another baby.

It’s funny, seems Gypsy favored the bolder ones, almost as if the skittish ones irritated her which only served to make them even more so because of reactions to them. Oh Gypsy, how fickle thou art.😔

I am so happy for Knitty that Gypsy treats him so differently, but my heart still breaks for Knotty. He just didn't get much in the way of good from Gypsy. I know things were different for her, as well. She was ALWAYS hungry and just generally not accepted by the troop. But, poor Knotty paid such a dear price for that. I hope and pray that he and Gypsy can get closer. I miss seeing Knotty and I still worry about him all the time. Thank you for video. It is amazing.

@ArrozMarisco360

They only get pregnant during the breeding season which normally falls between the months of Nov to Feb. The normal gestation period is just over 5 months. Gypsy wasn't pregnant again until Knotty was about 8 months old.

Hey, everyone I also like the Vervet monkey foundation, rescue center these monkeys are very loving, in Africa. The people give the bottles and teach them to go in, feeding stations they call them, a box frame and chicken wire makes the box around frame. A small hole to go in. Pet bottles are wired in , after baby goes in, they drink from a . bottle mom's know to take baby to these to nurse. They keep advancing to,different pins large always 1 or 2 care giver people are in these areas .the babies that have been reared as pets, have a harder time to, ,adjust , but they do. At the last large pin, they have at each areas of different troops. They get to know the troop members safely, then at some point, females that have tried to forms a bond are allowed in. The baby and moms pick each other, I have seen 2 times, 2 babies that are very close with each other pick the same mom. She gets close to both, they have twins, so this isn't an issue. She raises 2 babies. There has been 2 time, 2 different groups a male has bonded with a baby. They carrie them around, play with them, take to feeding station for bottle, protect them. They are called foster mom's. Every one in the group, fall in love with them . Always something going on. Just put name in at Facebook, touch the spyglass, after you write it in.

And knotty smarter and has sharper survival skills will do him a great service when he must leave. Knitty won’t be as skilled with living prob struggle adjusting in the beginning but knotty always showed up when his brother cries... knotty will be watching over knitty when he’s turned out too. That one lucked out in the gift of big brothers. He lives his little brother and mother too just from afar.

Lol she came back she lives that kid. Gypsy seemed to fail to bond with knotty Becca I don’t believe with knotty she was given a choice. If a higher up wants to aunt your baby she can not refuse if she lower ranking unfortunate knotty was an adorable lil boy they took him out of her arms told her go forge come back when he’s hungry I’ll give him back when I’m ready. When knotty was born they are still tending knotty like mothers. So does Gypsy once in a while. But when knotty was born he was more stubborn threw a fit to fight to be with mom. Knotty just caved and accepted that he has a mom but auntie is more his mom. I don’t believe that Gypsy had a choice. She wanted to be with him she was always around. But ordered to pretty much let you go. Look closer knotty she was always somewhere in the background.. Gypsy wanted to love and cuddle... teach knotty. Ridgy fell in love with knotty since day one. I don’t think Gypsy is nearly the mother I thought she was I feel bad for that. If you watch closely you start to understand their way of life.. being in Gypsy rank took from her more than dignity took her ability and choice away from forming a living strong bond with all her babies. Knitty is in her heart because he fought hard to be with mom. She feels loved and she feels seen what the struggle is for her and he fought to be with her. Knotty saw it. Tried to cry for her but she was pretty much ordered not to get him when he caa as LLC iut we will tend to him. AndI. Think knotty gets that it was not her fault later in figures it out she had no choice

I feel so bad I looked at Gypsy like that I see her now. She’s actually a wonderful mother who was aching to be with and form bonds with them. But if the hi arch tells you I’m taking over just show up for milk .. she tries to stay right in the area but she’s non verbally told go. She will go to the road. But she was never far away... I noticed that. I understand what she had to do. And knitty and Kaylee would buck the system and was adamant with aunties and they ran after mom but they all were close with ridgy as a mom as well.

These part time nappers known as aunts (except Aunty) are obnoxious at times. Her babies are low ranking so these Monkeys above her can line up to get their baby holding and baby grooming urges met. You wouldn't dare see this with higher ranking like Dopey. I have many times felt her leaving them is not by her choice. they will go crazy crying being held by "aunts" unable to get to Mom. So maybe she goes away sometimes for her baby's sake. And to forage since she has to eat dead last if there is anything left due to her position. At least Knitty is bigger now, can get away more and is foraging so he won't be as hungry waiting for her return. I think Gypsy is weak minded and with the cards dealt to her, weak in the heart. I've seen other watchers call for her to be fixed for being such a terrible Mom. I don't agree with that myself. I wish what looks like much larger Monkeys at times who come get her babies need to back off and leave her to raise her own babies.

Arroz and friends: If I could start a go fund me account/page, using your videos and pictures of your most poignant moments which show the depth of their love, feelings, societal rules and so forth; comparing them to us (which is very easy to do) and post them everywhere I can, including contacting TV and radio stations, animal rights activists and so on....I'd give the the money to a highly prominent organization that might be able to save a few (preferably all macaques), perhaps we can make a difference. If someone else knows how best to go about all of this, I would definitely work with them. I'm home all the time (health reasons) and cannot travel easily...that's why I need other people to do the leg work...people who already do this sort of thing. So, first of all Arroz, you would of course, maintain all control over your work and have the final say...then I'd get to work stirring the pot and sniffing out the right people, unless I can find others who know the ropes and can help. We've got to fight for them. It only takes one person to get that ball rolling, and I'd like to be that person. If there are others already doing that, then I'd like to work in helping them make a difference. I want NOTHING for doing anything I'd do. I just want to save the lives and bring about a change, because they deserve nothing less. So, please people, what do you think? Can you help? Are you for or against? Please say why in your comments...it helps. Thanks for taking the time to at least read this. Are any of you an attorney who would chip in some free advice? If I were to give proof where the money would go, would any of you consider sharing what we're doing, once its officially off the ground, asking to help us"Go Fund" our Macaques? Would you be interested in donating, money, time, services? I'm just throwing out the idea, to see what happens. You never know :) ARROZ IF YOU ARE DEAD SET AGAINST THIS IDEA, DON'T HESITATE TO SAY SO. I CARE ABOUT YOUR PRIVACY. I'VE SEEN PIECES WRITTEN ABOUT YOU. NO ONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE AND I LIKE THAT. BUT, WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE AND ITS AMAZING. I HIGHLY RESPECT YOU AND DO NO WANT TO DO ANYTHING THAT YOU DON'T WANT, OKAY FRIEND?

Hi Sarah I think no one does it more pro-actively than PETA and they have the means, resources and personnels to advance their causes. I'm particularly impressed what one of our fellow viewer has achieved by invoking their help - I really can't imagine we could do it better than them when it comes to setting the ball rolling. Many of us cannot go full time but we could help to alert the appropriate authority when we see something not right. My videos are here to inform and let people form their own opinions of these animals and hopefully in a more positive fashion. I am glad that most people who follow my videos have come to appreciate and understand these animals more :)

Thank you Arroz. I'll be contacting PETA to volunteer to the extent that I'm able and learn some new things along the way. You've given me a way to actively pursue my dream of helping these beautiful Macaques, and primates in general. I hadn't thought of PETA (duhhh) and so glad to see what you think about them. I do have the time to help. I so appreciate your taking the time to help guide me. You've done a wonderful job in opening the hearts and minds of those who are taking the time to learn about and love them. Many of us have learned just how complex and relatable their personalities are. They often cause us to take a good look at ourselves. I wish could experience each of them in person. But, your videos are the next best thing to being there. Arroz, I love how our troop interacts with you. They have accepted you as part of their community. Thank you for all the times when you stepped in to help them...like rescuing baby Spunky from her kidnapper by distracting the culprit with food; when you lead them to a special spot to give them goodies (I love hearing them crunch the beans); and when you sneak goodies to those who need it. I love those times when our troop includes you, like the time they looked to you for shelter under your umbrella. There are many many other instances when I see them interact with you and I have no doubt there are those I am unaware. I giggle when you zoom in on their faces and they do that uncomfortable shuffle with the eyes (like humans would do) and just sit there. I imagine them nervously gulping and blushing. haha Thank you for showing us the good and the bad, the happy and sad; scary, and funny, surprising and gross (ewww spaghetti). :D Thank you for the stories, for interpreting the things they feel and do. Thank you for educating us on their plights, physical and emotional struggles; their familial structures and hierarchy. For those of us who have never been, thank you for teaching about a little of the law and life in Hong Kong and what others are doing for them; like the feeders (just wish they'd either enrich what the forest as to offer in food or enlist new feeders, when the old feeders are unable. Your're a very talented and educated videographer, photographer and writer. You keep us engrossed in each video and wanting to come back for more. Thank you for every day you hike up that trail, through sunshine, wind, rain and temperature extremes, to be with your children. God bless you in all that you have done and continue to do for them. Arroz, Gypsy showed no love, or very little love to Knotty and as a result the troop returned the favour and paid little to zero attention to Gypsy which just worsened Gypsy's outlook on her bottom of the pecking order disposition on life. But the day Gypsy started to show love and kindness to Knitty the whole troop returned the love back to her ten fold, even though she is low ranking you honestly would never know with the amount of grooming and love and attention Gypsy now gets. If only Gypsy could have realised this sooner with Knotty, she could have been rewarded with love and attention from the whole troop and Knotty would be confident not hiding, knowing he has a supportive, loving, attentive mother and he would have had a much happier story to tell us. I guess the silver lining is Gypsy did seem to take a look at herself and say "it's time I changed my awful ways" And she did xxx

Hey you know peoples attitude to life and others depends on what is happening to them at that time and I don`t see why Macaques should be any different. Gypsy`s life was obviously a mess with severe signs of being nervous ie: plucking and disappearing leaving Knotty for long periods and just maybe she was a bit scared of you and Humans in general causing to go hide. Now she seems more relaxed in herself, which means she has a more happy out look on life reflected by her care for Knitty but she still needs the support of Aunty and others to be there when she needs them. Grandee you crafty old man ! " I will just hang around and look after everybody THEN when one of them females comes into season BANG job done" :-)

I think food security plays a large part she no longer runs on empty nowadays as a new regular feeder visits the place I have heard every other day since last summer to feed all of them even Skull head and Jubilee troops . He probably spends a few hundred quids a week to buy vegetables and fruits etc to feed them and he must be quite well off as he sometimes comes in a range Rover and sometimes a porsche cayenne to visit the place. My only worry is he might accoustom them to handouts especially the newborns from last year.

It is good but also worrying.I also hope that they do not get to accustomed to it. Probably just the way my mind works BUT I just hope there is not an ulterior motive to like assessing the numbers for another round of trapping or worse. Thanks for the information Arroz.

I wish knotty had got a little 0f the love and affection that knitty gets.poor knotty all he got was abused, biten, throwed and starved. I pray they fix gypsy so she can never have another baby. I'm waiting for the day knotty can leave his evil abusive mom and the rest of this troop that never did anything to help he

Yes knitty is a lot happier baby and isn't scared he will be beaten, plucked have his hand bite and threw off a hill. I am thankful knitty doesn't have to endure the torture poor knotty did and I'm glad knitty is loved. I just wish knotty was loved and cared for by anyone in the troop.

meme60knotty meme60knotty im with you! IKnotty is so independent now, maybe he'll leave earlier than usual! Ok, I admit to a little bitterness that Knotty was abused by his mum and ignored by most of the troupe.

Sue Carman Knotty wasn't ignored by most of the troop. He had Aunts and Arroz even has footage of Bossy picking up Knotty and placing him in Gypsy's arms. Knotty was very different than Knitty and still is. He/'s been described as skittish mostly. He feared walking sticks, he feared Arroz's camera. He often lost out on scattered goodies because he was uncomfortable with crowds and "mayhem"

kkossor Yes, Knotty had his Aunts, but nobody else seemed to want to bother with him. Maybe its because he was timid and skittish. I don't know. But the females seem to be "lining up" to aunt Knitty. I'm glad Knotty is now independent and doesn't need, or seem to want any of them now! I hope he decides to leave earlier than usual and go find acceptance elsewhere.

Sue Carman Babies only have their mothers & Aunts. No females will line up to Aunt a baby. They’re not doing that with Knitty. It just appears that way because Knitty is so easy going. Knotty didn’t like being with his Aunts even. He would cry when being Aunted. They’re just different babies with different personalities. I love them both and I love Gypsy. Knotty will most likely stay until it’s time for him to leave & that’s a very good thing for Knitty. He’ll love having an older brother to run & play with. No one ever expected Dopey to be independent but because he had an older brother, he & Bobby took off together & Dopey is a different little guy. He still likes to stir up mischief from time to time though. LOL It’s ok that we disagree & have different opinions. That’s what makes life interesting. I’m not trying to get you to change your mind. We can exist happily believing differently. I hope you have a great weekend. :)

Arroz Marisco, I read a research article by Dario Maestripieri, he stated that the rhesus macaques are the only species of monkeys that share with humans strong tendencies for nepotism, political maneuvering, and our Machiavellian intelligence, he also stated that after humans the rhesus macaques are one of the most successful primate species on our planet... Do you agree or disagree with this, I have watched several videos of different species of monkeys I see much difference in the rhesus?
