I feel this scene and the scene where the Master came back are the legacy of the Davies era compared to the Moffat-Chibnall era. Moments like this that which left a cliffhanger that made your heart race and left you on the edge of your seat. I can’t recall a time during the Moffat-Chibnall period that left you feeling the tension like how shit was about to go down like it did here. Let’s hope Davies can recreate moments and feelings like this in his new run
@hejouxah1269

I think the only time Moffat had me on the edge of my seat was in "World Enough and Time" when Bill Potts was converted into a Cymberman. I had the benefit of not being spoiled because I wasn't on social media as much.
@joshuamainwood3548
2 жыл бұрын
@@hejouxah1269 there was one other big time I remember from the Moffat period that left me chills like that. And I still revisit the scene to this day tbh. That would be the river song reveal scene in a good man goes to war. Really that entire episode honestly. I'd say Moffat moreso excelled with the extremely emotional episodes rather than tension dripping cliffhangers tbh. Since like, I can name a few episodes in Moffat's era that have been emotional. But no episodes with extremely huge cliffhangers.
@michaeldeboer
2 жыл бұрын
There was a time when Moffat did away with two-parters, so I can't blame you for thinking he didn't do a lot of memorable cliffhangers. The two-parters he did do were mostly well-defined and separate from each other, like how the Pandorica Opens and the Big Bang look and feel completely different. Even Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone are different, going from stone tunnels of a mausoleum to the inside of a spaceship/forest. Pandorica's cliffhanger was more melancholic and sad than tense, but there was also the shooting of Melody Pond in the astronaut suit in Impossible Astronaut. And the ending of A Good Man Goes to War. His cliffhangers had a different tone, different tension, like the reveal of The Question. Or 12 revealing he's still blind. But don't forget the ending of Dark Water; the Cybermen and Missy reveal. All great stuff. And of course World Enough and Time. So don't you dare compare Moffat to Chibnall. Moffat knew what he was doing, bc he knew and often mentioned he couldn't keep repeating what RTD did (he also jokingly said RTD screwed him with the title 'the End of Time' "how am I ever going to top that!" he said.) so he did what he does best only in a different direction resulting in the greatest moments. Chibnall had one or two actually good cliffhangers in Flux in episode 1 and 2 and that's it. And also forget RTD was notoriously bad at resolving his own cliffhangers. I mean, this Bad Wolf moment had nothing to do with the next episodes haha It was just to hype up the return of Rose. It didn't actually do anything except get the Doctor in the starting position for next episode. But sometimes these silly moments can just be accepted bc they're just so much fun!
