This is a very detailed tutorial demonstrating how to produce shear force and bending moment diagrams for a simply supported beam, with point loads and UDLs.
The video covers the entire process: calculating support reactions before producing the shear force and bending moment diagrams that are required to determine the maximum shear force and maximum bending moment acting on the beam.
In this video, the bending moment is calculated at one meter intervals along the beam, to determine the maximum bending moment. Subsequent videos in this topic explain an alternative method, where the shear force diagram is used to determine the location of the maximum bending moment, prior to carrying out the final calculation for the magnitude of the maximum bending moment.
