From some of the comments it appears that some viewers don't quite get how this works. Emergency warming blankets are made of similar material: you wrap them around yourself and voila! Your body heat is contained inside the thin foil blanket because the shiny foil reflective surface keeps the energy contained with you rather than letting it escape. They are so effective even in very cold weather that you can easily overheat with one around yourself. Simply put, almost no heat passes through this stuff... if the heat is outside, it stays outside. If the heat is inside, it stays inside. This material minimizes heating of the air and contents inside a tin shed, which becomes oven-like in summer without a means of keeping heat from radiating from the tin surface to the air inside the shed. If you put this material on the inside wall of your shed, the tin envelope still heats up from the sun but it doesn't radiate that heat buildup to the air inside your shed. Instead the tin dissipates the heat to the outside, leaving the shed much more comfortable inside. Hope this helps.

No its better attached to the colourbond and then lining the shed on the inside if you wish keeping it away from the foil. You dont need to line the shed unless you are looking for an asthetic value . the foil will keep the heat out when directly applied the the colourbond surface.

Thank you to all who have made comment and asked questions. It will do a great job of stopping dust coming in from above and cool you down as well. To learn all about why it works and how please have a good look at the website www.shedinsulationdiy.com and there are many questions answered there. Peter is always up for a chat to discuss the physics of it so feel free to use the numbers on the website or the contact form for any further info. We don't sell the magnetic straps by themselves as they don't hold most other insulations (they are mostly too thick), we make them as an aid to installation of our 0007 insulation and we really don't make any money on these as they are time consuming and costly to make. Have a look at the other KZitem videos attached to the website for more info.

I am considering installing Bradford Anticon, mainly for noise suppression from rain etc. Although Anticon has thermal advantages, I am also considering using this product in conjunction with it. Question is, Do I put the 0007 over the top of the Anticon or beneath it ? My gut tells me to put it over the top so it forms a stop barrier to the heated roof sheet and then the Anticon can function as the noise barrier. Only thing to consider is moisture. How does the 0007 mitigate condensation ??

@@elainevenn2579 That's good news. I'm going to try and fit the thickest Anticon I can afford for the roof and then wrap the whole outer wall section with foil before the sheets go on. @farmalmta
7 жыл бұрын
You will use adhesive to apply this material to the inside of the car's roof and door panels and firewall, making sure to cover the surfaces completely. Then to prevent heat load from the windows, you'll need to apply this material to the inside of all of them. If you don't, you've accomplished almost no reduction in heat transferance to the inside of your car. Perhaps you see the problem: because of the windows, which you actually cannot cover with this material, you're not gaining very much actual insulation value for the interior of the car simply by covering the metal parts.

I don't see how something so thin could be effective
@elainevenn2579
6 жыл бұрын
It really doesn't matter how thick aluminium is to stop radiation, as long as the quality is good it will stop 97% of radiant heat- thickness is important with batts as the heat soaks through eg - R4 batt (4hrs for heat to transfer through) with radiant barriers the heat wont transfer. have a look at farmalmta above he describes it perfectly. You could also describe is as an umbrella verses a thick towel, (you don't need a thick umbrella to keep the rain out). hope this helps.
@shedinsulationdiy6841
5 жыл бұрын
Its not about the thickness, it's about the quality of the aluminium, have a look at the website and this will answer your questions about thickness and why its not important, particularly in a warm climate where we don't want to store heat in our roof. Its all about physics and Peter can give you all the info you need so go through the website and then give him a call he will be more than happy to speak to you and explain it .

I'd think the shed will need to be completely rodent proof for this material to not become subject to the effects of rodents: 1) rodents gnaw on "chewables" as a means of keeping their constantly growing teeth to a manageable length. This stuff seems quite chewable. The only way to keep rodents from chewing this material it is to make it taste bad. 2) rodents burrow for concealment. If they can find their way behind this material, say into the voids of the metal, they'll burrow behind and build their nests, with all the fouling that is associated with rodent nesting and living areas. Yuck! Unhealthful and stinky!
@elainevenn2579
2 жыл бұрын
Rodents will get into everything but aluminum is not their favorite. Batts or pump in paper are their true favorites. If the 0007 is installed hard up against the tin (which is what we recommend) there is little chance of them getting under it unless very persistent.
