Great summary as always Phil and I fully understand why you have swapped. The stats of the DRZ speak for themselves and once again, you've inspired me to get one of these little beatuies. Problem is here in Sweden they are like rocking horse shit to get hold of. All the best to ya//Marc

Cheers Marc! Yeah, and you may only have the SM and S model? The E is the punchy one virtually all Aussie opt for. Think DR650 power and torque, without the weight - pretty bloody impressive machines. No wonder people take them to fun, super remote, hard-core places 💪

Nice one mate! Mine is a 2021 as well with a lot of the same accessories. I still have the stock tank though, which I'm considering upgrading. It's definitely a DR ZED!!! 🤣 Yeah I'd love to get out in the outback on my DRZ, but not too sure on actually doing the Simpson at my age. Maybe... I was right into archery for 11 years as a member of the Australian Bowhunters Association, but I used to just enjoy shooting at clubs, never got into the hunting side of it. Sounds like you got a good deal there. A sensible swap and the right time!

Thanks for the video! As much as I enjoy owning my Honda CB500X, the weight of the 500X limits, and tests me in many ways. (199 KG Kreb weight) The DRZ400E looks like another fantastic "all-rounder" MC. Plenty enough grunt, good reliability, but not the heavy weight of the 500X.

I was waiting for the Kove 450 Rally but no sight it is coming Oz. So built my own bike also using a drz400. Rally tower, Safari tank, Sargent seat. Suspension upgrade. I run with 15/42 sprockets setup. Great for the road and still great off road. It climbs all types off tracks. I will post a review on my channel soon and will let you know so you can have a look. This is my second drz build so pop over to my channel and have a look at my first one. It may be of help with tips. Cheers.

So far Andrew, the 400 is every bit the 650, minus the weight. Just needs to be geared up (15/43 for me) gives the 400 hwy ability, (sit on 100 kph sweetly) and everything else fine 👍

@@MidCoastAdventures Cheers , yes lowering by low to moderate amounts they say, has negligible effect on handling . Just remember you don’t have ABS , just before I sold rally was riding on the slimy mossy tar section of the road between Bellingen South and Kalangi a dead end road . Trail braked too hard into a slimy mossy corner was going down , but ABS pulsed and I stayed up. That slimy green stuff is a worry on the backroads around Coffs .

Does the DRz400 have 2 radiator coils on her? I never noticed this or did ya add a 2nd one? I think that's a good idea just as many add a coil to cool their car transmission. "Content" winds up being a large reason that people swap out bikes so as I'm deciding what bike to purchase, I plan on keeping whatever I buy. But I'm a private person w/o a channel. I don't even have a camera so I'm grateful to learn all about the choices out there. I subb'd here b/c you speak in a way I understand. That's a big thing to my way of thinking. How fast does she travel on the roads now, with the 15/42 sprockets setup? Did I get those numbers right? Anyhoo, I'm off to look at more of your stuff. peace
@MidCoastAdventures
Ай бұрын
G'day mate, yep the E model has two radiator coils. I guess it's the more "tuned up" of the models (SM and S) Those buying a bike for content have too much money!...lol I buy a bike because it makes sense for me during that time - like my DR650 for longer range loaded trips, The Rally for local exploring, with a few longer trips. Now the DRZ for a mix of both local and long range. The 15/42 combo is working beautifully for me, plenty of grunt still and sits on 100 kph sweetly - about as fast as I go on any bike - and you can still use the stock chain. Cheers mate 👍
@user-dv7hb2sc9m
Ай бұрын
I appreciate the heads up on stuff I did not know. Who'd have guessed the two radiators on the one bike? Not me but I could see someone adding a 2nd one to make sure their sH!T didn't overheat, like in your country. We got spots here to so it's just one of the "Version's" of that bike. Cool/kool & you've gone all out w/ their bikes; DR/DRz both of which can be worked on & who've loads of aftermarket products. Australian's really do it up well from what I've seen & both the bikes you've chosen are on my lists as I research for the right bike. "INTENT & Cost" are the main factors in buying but most do not really know what their intent is until after they start riding? I don't want to be that guy so I've got my list, all the probable MOD's & their costs that I feel I'll need down the road & then how feasible it'll be to even do those mods. And believe it or not I've got everything from a Honda 150L up to VSTROM 650's. A bunch are between those but I'm saving right now & learning all of what I wrote. Seeing the 2 radiators means I missed something.... lol, I'll be digging back into it & my intent is 80%/20% to the asphalt side. So I need a bike that can go my local speed limits 75MPH(120KM). This almost limits the DRz but that's why I asked sprocket questions, yeah, I'm even entering into that to see if I can get the speeds out of it that I'll need so I thank you for posting the video & taking time to let me know stuff. peace

drz400e weighs less than the crf300l and rally and it has more power than the dr650. drz400e stock at the wheel 39.8hp 26.92 lb/ft dr650se stock at the wheel 35.1hp 32.2 lb.ft crf300 stock at the wheel 22.7hp 16.7 lb/ft as you can see the drz400e has the most hp. the dr650 has the most torque and both suzuki's are nearly double the crf300 in hp or torque.
