I haven’t played Shenmue II since like 20 years ago so this was really cool to watch.

The editing alone was worth it! Probably my favorite video of this year!

@@RichardPayne5 I also make sure to download some of them, just in case... They remind me of the early days of KZitem, albeit, much more polished and professional than the silly stuff we were doing back then: Dragon Ball AMVs ft. Linkin Park; Dumb wrestling stunts; And, of course, GTA San Andreas' urban myths... The parallel between this video and the old AMVs has to do with perfectly synchronizing action-to-tempo, at which you excelled with the Ohshu Soba track.

@@marioe.4400 That really warms my heart, glad to hear you enjoyed my attempts at synching music to action! I have a special fondness for that era too! Yeah, those videos were pretty silly and the editing was not great, but they acted as the foundation for all future gaming videos and they were clearly made with passion (well, except for those San Andreas myth videos that would end with a screamer, screw you guys!). If I had to pinpoint some of the KZitemrs who inspire the way I make my videos one way or another, the first that comes to mind is “TheZZAZZGlitch” (legendary Pokémon glitch hunter and expert), but also “deadpoolXYZ” (Bully modder and researcher), “pannenkoek2012” (legendary Mario 64 player and researcher) “Vadim M” (GTA series investigator), “whoisthisgit” (old-school game content creator, his curiosity and text-based narration never fail to hook me), “SnowiestAngeman” (Yakuza content creator, his use of music in videos is brilliant), “MrFO1” (Spyro Enter the Dragonfly, the guy knows everything about this game!) and of course… “BlueMue” (he needs no introduction!). I’m not nearly as good as any of them, and I’m surely forgetting about someone else too, but they’re all masters of their craft and they were definitely an inspiration for me. 😬

my fights with Dou Niu were always the same - just punch, kick, and move

That’s kinda how everyone fights him to be honest, because he’s immune to all of Ryo’s special moves and his block rate is annoying. The fight I show in the video is from the prototype, where the developers had yet to add this immunity, allowing me to go all out on him! 👊

Cool video bro, loved the edits! Is it maybe possible to have the final fight after 7pm in the evening? I’ve always wondered about that…

Thanks buddy! That's a good question... I was so determined to reach the top earlier that I completely neglected to look into the opposite scenario. 😬 Unfortunately, I can't say for sure what would happen, but I do remember the game eventually warps you to the final segment if you just stand there doing nothing, with Joy saying something along the lines of "What are you doing, Ryo? We need to hurry, otherwise Wong..." and Ryo saying: "Yeah, you're right. Let's go". I could be misremembering though, so I'll have to take a better look at this. Will update you once I get around to doing that. Thanks for the comment! 😁

damn it, u playing like a legend. I have also never defeated dou nio by fighting like that. this is one of the favorites of the best way to fight👍😲 its also no damage before reaching the final boss, at 6pm the weather seems to be the same.

Yeah, as far as I could gather, the time and weather used for the rooftop segment is scripted to always be like that. Even if you were to somehow get past the 6 pm script, it would still look the same. AM2 really made sure this scene would feature a distinctive, consistent look for all players. That was the best fight I got against Dou Niu during my recording sessions. Took me a lot of attempts, but I really wanted to show off how OP Ryo is in the prototype. Truth be told, you can only fight him like that in the Game Jam Prototype. In the final game, most of the moves I used would have no effect (Swallow Flip for instance doesn’t work at all) and Dou Niu is way more reactive and rarely gets hit by more than two blows before blocking.

@@RichardPayne5I never even thought of trying lunging strike extension elbow + elbow assault, and never thought of twin swallow leap + diagnial wipe I was so impressed. and I always use mantis combo with extension + elbow assault against baihu.😂

@@thatsmekarl5365 Twin Swallow Leap + Diagonal Wipe only works this well in the prototype; in the final, it usually gets blocked at some point or doesn’t trigger Diagonal Wipe’s special extension, so it’s not as reliable. The Lunging strike extension + Elbow Assault is actually not a combo at all, but rather an animation glitch exclusive to the prototype. After the enemy blocks Lunging strike, by pressing the punch button Ryo performs the additional elbow strike we know of, but in the prototype, the animation seems to be incomplete and the game switches to the one used for Elbow Assault, making it look like I chained the Lunging Strike extension with Elbow Assault, when I in fact didn’t. In the final, the game uses the correct animation, and you can chain it with Elbow Assault, but I wouldn't recommend it as it’s kind of slow and will more often than not be blocked.
