Love the slow pace. We can appreciate the language & enjoy the pronounciation. A help too for those with hearing difficulties. Well done. Thank you.

Thank you for posting this story for all of us to hear without paying for it. I've never heard it before. The introduction states it was written by Conan Doyle and modified for radio by a woman whose name escapes me.

I revommend Magpie audio readings. The English actor doesnt rush but one imagines he is Doctor Watson himself.

This was originally called The Beryl Coronet. Why do they keep changing things for Americans. Surely they aren't so ignorant that they wouldn't just listen and learn what those words mean.

I'd guess this was done a long time ago. Sounds better at 1.25x speed, I think it was slowed from the original here.

I had to stop listening. First because the story was read so slowly and without expression, as if to a child or a mentally challenged person. Was this actually written by Doyle? The basic premise of the story is stupid. The bank officer is specifically told "don't take it away from the bank and please don't tell any of your friends or family about it". Hearing that another bank was robbed, this dimwit thinks that taking the royal crown home "under his coat" and locking it in a desk at his house would be better than leaving it locked in a bank vault. And then he blabs about it to everyone in the house including his gambling addicted son. Not a very believable story.

Not one of the holmes stories is believable. To enjoy follow the 'suspension of disbelief' method.

I speeded it up to 1.25. I wonder if it was slowed down for a U.S. audience. There certainly is a lot of expression by all the actors.
