here's my experience my friend. The "blast shield", when staked out and positioned where the flaps are over windows makes a 10-degree difference inside when glamping with no overhead shade like in the desert where I prefer to be. IDK about its rain protection beyond what's there but I've seen some used by forest firefighters who aren't using it and in really high heat during the day, the thermal barrier gets fairly low in the tent so when you stand up, there's a discernable difference in temp than when sitting. I also prefer to use the blast shield every time as it's easily replaced at just over $100 and I avoid fading and degradation of the waterproofing of the tent top. Direct heat will degrade any fabric other than dynema regardless of how good. Just my 2.5 cents.

I was at this year’s rainy burning man in a Shiftpod2, and while I had an amazing time I can confidently say that the Shiftpod2 is NOT waterproof.

Good video I think if the rain fly was not directly touching the roof and had a gap of 6" for air flow it would make a big difference in the overall temperature inside the shift pod. Cheers

Shift pod should get a deal with runaway campers I can see where if they were designed together you could have the best of both worlds.

Do you have to zip on the floor every-time or can it be stored while zipped?

What's the hauling like? That bag looks huge. Can I fit it in a rooftop box or back of am SUV with 1 or 2 kiddos?
@TheGlampGuru

The bag is big, its over 6 ft. It will take up some car space for sure. I usually strap it to my roof with ratchet straps.

Get a Chrysler minivan with stow and go and fold down one of rear seats, that's what we did with our similarly sized Gazelle screen room when we car camped all over the country. The fold down the opposite mid seat for more gear storage, plenty of room for up to 4 weeks of gear and beat of all with the kids diagonal they can't really reach each other to fight =) We also got disc-o-bunk bunk beds, again to keep them from fighting.

The only way the fly will make a difference is if the gap between the tent and fly is large enough to reduce thermal transfer.
@snowcrash395

You definitely need the center pole when there's lots of snow on the roof.

What was poor about their customer service? I am trying to find one and following their restock level, but I do not handle poor customer service well. My other consideration is the old standard Springbar.

They're very slow to reply when I was reaching out to them. To be honest this can always be changing and I know that they have been always trying to improve all aspects of their company as long as Ive known them.

Those ports are meant for an A/C. I think stove pipe would melt the fabric.

Got from from the Kodiak Canvas review because the thumbnail for this was interesting. Checked their site, and it looks like they're taking pre orders for the Shiftpod 3. I'm a firm believer in buying quality . . . but $1500 is a lot of money for a tent.
@TheGlampGuru

Yeah its going to be a big upgrade but you have to think about what your camping/glamping needs will really be to make this worth it. I have at-least two events per year that I can bring this to that it's perfect for. I also used it as a space for parties in the backyard, so the price works for me. Also I still use my V1 and its held up...so far.
@Bateluer

@@TheGlampGuru Two events a year is a tough sell for a 1500 dollar tent. For that price, I think I'd have to be using it almost monthly. Doubt it'll be any cheaper, but do you plan on doing a video on the ShiftPod 3?
