I fish inshore and wind is always a factor. Mostly throw mirrodines ,spook jr and jigs that are probably 1/2 oz max total lure weight. I have found that the 2 brake-3 dial setting is my bread and butter. It allows distance in wind without too much if any thumb.Having said that I still love the old Curado E greens. I set them up 3 brakes out of six with tension adjusted proper and rock on. I like watching test like this. Lot of time and effort. Great job.

I would prefer if you just said "that went far, that went far, that went short". This Reel Test is just too accurate and useful. And why would you do a Reel Test where you open the reel and show how it works? That doesn't make sense, a real Reel Test involves reading numbers and features off a box! Back to reality, another great video. Thanks for the effort it's super helpful all of your videos. I love my Tranx's and I'm not the biggest Shimano fan. The 200 caught roughly 300 Spanish Mackerel this year along with a 39lb Cobia. The 300HG is just a vertical jigging beast. More than a few snapper, grouper, Jack's, etc.

Thanks for a great vid. I have the full suit of Tranx reels and love them. What interested me and confirmed in a practcial sense for the 200 was the sweet spot of 2 & 2 That is where I fish my reel for 90% of my applications as it gives me a wide range when switching lures and the "Cast with confidence" feeling . E.g I go from 5 down to 1 on the dial and.leave the 2 brakes on..

Never owned the regular Saltiga, they very well could be the same and that's worry looking into for sure. I actually have the 8000 also and I've caught big sailfish on it so which is a real test of durability. Lots of spinning reels see one big sailfish and die but I've landed a handful of nice ones. I've seen videos of guys catching big GT on them and while I've never caught one they look like reel destroying fish. Great reel, VERY expensive.

The diameter of your line will affect your casting distance. It affects spool speed and diameter. When you have 10 pound line, you have more capacity on the reel, so 100 feet of 10 pound line will not affect the diameter of the spool as much as if you have 100 feet of 30 pound line. If the effective diameter of the spool of line stays more consistent, the spool speed will also be more consistent. But if you have larger diameter line, the spool will have to speed up faster to pay out the same amount of line, and that will affect your casting distance. Think about it on your spinning reels how a full spool casts farther than one not completely full. But in that respect there is more friction of the line leaving the reel than on a full spool.
