If you paint the inside of the trailer white it becomes less scary for horses. Instead of going into a dark cave that makes them nervous they can see a brighter environment

Aww, I'm so happy to see Candy and Chance again. I wish poor Candy could be worked with more often, but I understand Kory's time is spread between a number of horses. What must she have been through to have such an attitude, besides being a good protective momma. I'm happy Chance is having a GOOD start on life with Kory, so he'll end up being a great companion for a future adopter. I wish I still had the means to take them both in. I'd love to work with Candy. I've always had a soft spot for fearful and difficult horses. It's so satisfying when you finally win their trust. Looking forward to the next episode. 💚💙💜

The Navajo Nation is my neighbor. Love those people! They have the biggest hearts. Not just with other people, but with their animals. The reservation is a very large high desert place. It gets extremely cold in the winter and they can get alot of snow. Most of the people live without water, electricity and gas. The old Navajo's cook outside, have candles or flashlights for light. They have to travel far to find wood to burn for cooking and heating. A major utility company surveyed where the homes are that don't have electricity and ran power poles to the people that live in the most rural parts of the reservation. Water still has to be hauled to those homes as well as for their animals. The people don't have much to eat or ways to get to a grocery store, much less getting feed for their animals. They really do, do their best for their animals. There isn't hardly any grass that grows, so they have to have hay and grain. It's a tough life, but that's the way the old generations live. The younger generations mostly have to travel off the reservation for good jobs. They honestly do try to do right for their horses. Thank you to Tawny, Jason, Dr. Nancy and everyone else that is traveling to the Navajo and Hopi reservations to help with their animals. Vaccinations and geldings are what is desperately needed!!

Please add: Do not fight with a foal on halter and rope, their necks and vertebrae are quite delicate and can be dammaged. And please also note: Even if they know their halter lesson, they are still kiddies until 2 or so. They can jump, spook, get a frenzy, try to play with you or go against you. They are BABIES and still have a lot to learn. Lots of respect lessons they get from their moms, by the way. Why I mention it: Do not expect a calm and totally "broke" specimen until they are older. Knew a lady who did not take a lead rope but just leasurely "hooked" her finger in the halter ring. Filly did a huge sudden leap and dislocated he poor lady's finger joint. Result? Lady got angry and retaliated by selling the baaaad filly. Always use a fat, soft lead rope that is long enough and gentle to your hands (or wear gloves). Take a firm grip on the halter and hold the rope with your other hand - just in case, you can always let go of the halter and lengthen the rope until the jumping-around-fit is over, without a fight and with due distance. They are kiddies and then, kind of teenagers for a good while. They will have weary days when they are growing, and jumpy days when the world is sparkly and pink and waiting to be conquered. (And in the first place, bl**dy don'ty buy 2 to 4 yearlings if you do not have the time to work with them patiently. My heart still burns with anger with the guys that bought the younger siblings of my own horse and then sold them again as they did not "funktion" perfectly. My own horse did not, either, was 2 when I got him, but we learned together and only death separated us 26 years later).

That is a lot of Big Lick stuff! If you need help with the older technology you may want to reach out to your local library. They can possibly point you in the right direction as far as how to digitize everything into newer digital storage. You may also be able to find a trustworthy freelance data specialist to help but I would definitely start with the library. Maybe Horse Plus can help share information through the library too! Libraries are a fabulous information network that are still of great use today.

One trick I’ve always seen and done with trailering is when leading them out look down and go slow, pretend your paying attention to your footing and they will follow and do the same so they’re less likely to jump out like that.

To the vet; when I lived in up state NY; I had my vet examine my horses That were in pasture. They had acquired mussel warts & ear crusting. Vet recommended Avons Skin So Soft. It did work within 24/48 hrs as vet said it would. Horses/donkeys don’t shy from its smell (regular skin so soft only). As she instructed me, I’d poor some on a cloth. Then massage the mussel or ears with that cloth. Using different cloths on each horse. Different cloth on ears as well. You will be happy with it. Excellent repellent as well. The smell does not bother them. And really soften mussel/ears to their liking.

I hope, they didn´t lose your luggage like mine last year, when i went the first time in my life to America, visiting my friends in NM . It got lost from Dallas to Albuquerque and was never found until today. Sadly I need to fight with the airline through a Laywer even now, bc no one was responsible from the first day of arrival and blamed others for it. They told me within three day to send my luggage to me and after that, I never heard anything from them. The result: I was three weeks of vacation with only the pair of shoes that was on my feet and borrowed sandals from my friend, still hoping for my luggage back, LOL. But seeing you guys exacly where I was, at the same Airports is making me soooo happy and excited bc this was my best vacation ever thanks to my friends and this beautiful country, and of course NM, Farmington, Aztek, Monument Valley, Navajo Nation and much more, that I never emagined so wonderful!

All fadeable molds originate from the same individual! All molds carry the same mutation. Through genetic analyses, researchers at Uppsala University and SLU ( Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) have recently (2011-11-27) identified the genetic cause of bleachable mold. Their studies show that all bleachable molds carry the same mutation, which probably arose a few thousand years ago. The mutation is a duplication of a DNA segment in the gene that codes for syntaxin 17 (STX17). The researchers have also shown that the STX17 gene codes for an alternative transcript, which is shorter than the normal full-length transcript. The mutation increases the amount of both STX17 transcripts, as well as the amount of transcripts from the nearby gene NR4A3, in all melanocytes of pale mold. These genes have no previous connection to pigmentation or melanoma development, indicating that the researchers have discovered a previously unknown mechanism(s) of melanocyte cell function. Here is the research project in its entirety (Swedish): (Swedish): Karaktärisering av mekanismer som orsakar melanom hos avblekbar skimmel

Cowboy is a typical cowboy. rollin in the dirt bless him. A clean horse is never truly clean unless he has rolled in the dirt. Kimberley you did a fantastic job of getting him shaven he looks so good and i am sure he is happier and cooler now. To the rest of the team keep up the great work you are doing you guys got this. Oh a side note have a great time in New Mexico. I can see an expansion of the office coming up in the near future its getting a bit tight in the office space now with the work of the guy who started the boycotting of the big lick. If you do not know what the big lick is may i suggest undercover operations that have been done on stables who do soaring it is where they pour caustic chemicals on the pasterns of the horses legs and then they put clear wrap on it to cook the substances into the pasterns and then when they are in the ring they add chains to hit the burned area and they put lead stacks that can cause a horse permanent damage to its back and rear legs from trying to compensated for the pain in their front pasterns. I have been around horses for most of my life and as a horse owner and a horse lover i did look at some of the video's and with the noises these horses just broke my heart into a billion pieces, the horses are in constant pain there is no relief for them so we humans with an ounce of humanity need to say stop this ends here and now horses or other animals should not have to go through this kind of torture so as someone can walk away with a cheque. Please help boycott the Big Lick from Contests held over the USA. Just listen to the horses they whinney in constant pain help put a stop to this kind of torture. I thought we were human beings not something worse than an animal.
