Most sharks will not harm you. These kinds of sharks are very docile creatures almost no shark will come up to a diver unprovoked. The only reason you have a cage with Great Whites is they ARE one of the few who get a bit too curious.

it doesn't "destroy" it. It reduces their slime layer a little which quickly rejuvenates and in their native environment they are fairly resistant to any bacteria that is already there. Handling fish that are being introduced into unfamiliar water aka tanks, is what is dangerous. Of course the "naturalists" think any type of interaction with anything wild is inherently bad and will hurt it.

@@alikhidzam3749 Most of the pirates were encouraged by or took advantage of British, French, and Dutch hostilities with Spain to get away with looting Spanish ships (that's why old Spanish coins make up the stereotypical "pirate gold"). If they didn't attack British ships, Britain often looked the other way. It was only after the conflicts with Spain ended that enforcement against pirates really ramped up, because there was no longer anyone pirates could legally terrorize and Britain realized that stealing from allies could collapse the peace they'd agreed upon. Before this, the British crown even hired their own pirates to steal from rival countries; these pirates were called "privateers." Port Royal, the only known preserved sunken city on the North American continent, was a boom town mostly due to pirating. Before it was destroyed by an earthquake it was the richest city on the continent, wealthier per person than London itself, and full of both legal and illegal pirates. In fact, even their second-to-last governor was a pirate (Captain Morgan). The line between "pirate" and "obediant British citizen" blurred all the time.

@AlashiaTuol

@@alikhidzam3749 On the other hand, this wreck is not likely to have been related to pirates. It's clearly made of metal; ships from the Golden Age of Pirating (1660-1730) were largely made of wood, which is usually rapidly eaten by sea worms. Because of this, only a few ships from the age of pirates have survived in a state of decent preservation, and all of them only survived because of their fresh or oxygen-starved water, which prevented the worms from feeding on them.
