As soon as the In My House verse comes in, the song takes a more dark mood. As if he was pissed off. Love it!

Love this version way more than the single version.

You're very welcome, Matt!;) Always loved the main riff's from 7 inch explosion at the end of the first "In my house" section! Now to continue with "It's alright", go in vice versa order - first the long album version (which is a lot like the original with additional PSB's bits and bops), then - to a lot poppier single mix! Cheers, buddy! Very happy to travel together on this discovery journey for you (not only PSB - some more artists I grew up listening to as well)!

There were two 12inch singles. One had the extended version, produced by the same team as the 7inch. The second 12inch was the PWL remix, that is where the original "In my House" words were added. PWL stood for Pete Waterman Limited and his main production team were 3 guys known as Stock , Aitken and Watermen (himself). They were huge in the mid-80s as pop producers with a distinctive disco, Hi-Nrg sound almost interchangeable between all their songs. In that period they were churning out pop tracks weekly and were nicknamed "The Music Factory". The PWL remix on the 2nd 12inch was more in that Hi-Nrg style and less the Deep House music style of the Introspective version.

PWL's nickname was actually The Hit Factory. Another track that appeared on the Remix 12" was the Dub Version. This short track, only a few seconds over 2 minutes long, gives an idea of how the song might have sounded had they kept it as a ballad. It's easy to find on You Tube and sounds pretty amazing.

@@edwinhiley6281 ah yes, my bad , "Hit Factory" I was thinking of the analogy with the 60s Motown studios and got the nickname mixed up

PWL (Pete Waterman Limited) was a record label and SAW (Stock Aitken Waterman) was a songwriting and producing team (Eurobeat / hi-NRG). SAW was a very successful trio in the 80s and early 90s in the UK, scoring more than 100 UK top-40 hits. They worked with artists signed to PWL like Kylie Minogue, Steps, 2 Unlimited, etc. They also worked with artists signed to other labels like Bananarama, Cliff Richard, Dead or Alive, Donna Summer, Rick Astley, Samantha Fox, etc. There are a few documentaries about Stock Aitken Waterman on KZitem. ✌

The S/A/W production team started off as Hi-Nrg producers for underground Gay clubs , producing tracks for artists like "7th Avenue" , who later appeared as "Straight" , cleaned up and pop friendly group "Big Fun". The gay Hi-Nrg sound was still there and they took it mainstream to artists like Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Rick Astley, Bananarama to name but a few. PSB was obviously interested in having them on-board but PWL notoriously turned down the offer of remixing "It's A Sin". They then swallowed their pride and remixed "Always On My Mind". Adding their distinctive style but also flourishes of House music that was coming through from the Gay and Black music scene of the States. The extra lyrics/rap on the Introspective version are not on the PWL 12inch version , just the "In my house" part.

Good call to react to both versions! I love both and they fill different roles, the first works great as a single and is one of the best covers I know of! The Introspective version is a little but more interesting and dynamic in my opinion, I just love when the synth comes in!

I do like the funky groove of this version, the rap part, meh, but the best part is the section with more of the sound of the 7" track. So, what I'm saying is, I like the more dance pop version better. And as for the lyrics hitting differently when comparing PSB versions, keep in mind this song was actually a ballad to begin with, and when done that way the tone is different yet again!

@@mattsnider2667 Matt, I really believe you should give a reaction to the 12 " version of the song (the real extended version). This is the best version you can listen of Always on my Mind and it'd be a pity if you didn't make a reaction of it. We are talking about the most famous 12 " version of the career of PSB and from their best selling single. At that time, PSB were the best group of the world. Give it a chance you'll love it!

@@mattsnider2667 PSB are well famous for their extended versions and mixes. For example, I know you love Opporunities (Let's Make Lots of Money). You'll like this extended version of the song (never released before). It works like a full version of the song: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1qSPnpaaq5R8an4
