Both incidents are rightfully being given headline positions in the papers and on broadcast media. The police office here was wrong to kick and stamp on the head of a subdued suspect, then to kick and further assault the other man on the bench with his hands behind his head. Definitely, in the Netherlands the extra armed police in the airports (because there is no such thing as unarmed police there) carry what are generally referred to as assault rifles or at the very least SMGs (HK?) as well as holstered pistols so could only arrive with weapons drawn, and if it's just regular police with pistols they would have already drawn them and most likely would immediately hold the suspects ''onder schot'' i.e. be pointing them at them, a warning shot would first be fired if it looked as if there were any hesitation complying, and aimed shots if any signs of aggression were shown. In Belgium a few years ago a suspect actually managed to get hold of a policeman's weapon, he was immediately neutralised by the colleague. Standard procedure. I've even seen cases of shots being fired at fleeing perpetrators, even when they were not armed.

@@ohdearismThe thing is it’s very easy to make a comment like that on KZitem and it’s entirely different being in that fight or flight situation. Conveniently the video starts at the point the officer puts the boot in so to speak. Clearly, something has happened in the lead up to this. The police were called to that location for a reason and if their statement is to be believed they were assaulted by these individuals, clearly the female officer is dazed and bleeding. If armed officers get into a physical altercation with the potential to get their weapons taken off of them they are taught to be as aggressive as possible to stop that from happening and as a last resort use said weapon, which would of been a far worse outcome than a boot to the head.I get it, the optics aren’t great, but the guy isn’t seriously injured and neither did he die. I also suspect police were on high alert for a potential terror attack given events earlier in the day with the Army officer being stabbed in Kent and the arrest of a hate preacher. At the end of the day you do not assault any police officer and certainly not armed police in an airport 😂. There’s certainly more to this story than the gaslighting video suggests.

There is absolutely no way a certain "community" will ever accept that the guy in blue did anything wrong. How this police man is dealt with will show us how two tier our country really is. It's like pre-80s coppering in England. Big men getting in there and neutralising the threat. That's what makes decent citizens feel safe. Now it's the exception, and we see a lot of policing typified by those silly DEI hires flapping around.

When I first saw the clip, I thought 'bloody hell, that's a bit OTT'. Then I found out what the incident was all about - not the TikTok version, the actual facts. What were these people thinking? Did they not realise that airport police are not simply 'everyday' officers? They walk around armed and on high alert, expecting something to kick off at any second. They don't have the luxury of time a community officer has. These people F'd around, and found out, good and proper. And I'm glad. I just wish there were more of these officers, in Leeds and Whitechapel for a start.

As an ex SCO19 officer. You are 100% correct on your assessment with regards to actions in situations where weapon retention is an issue. Nothing is off the table when it comes to this, and there is legalisation in place where a preemptive can be justified.

@@ASMOX_ You have to realise, or maybe not that the MAINSTREAM media show a small element of this incident which is a snippet of the wider incident. This is not a recording of the entire incident. For all you know, 2 seconds prior to recording commencing this chap on the floor may well have been reaching for the officers side arm or something else which justifies his actions. Don't get me wrong, everybody is accountable by law and nobody is above the law, but I'm not naive enough and nor should you be to think that this is "all that's happened" during this incident. For the officer to use that level of force, something SIGNIFICANT must have happened prior to recording commencing.

Former RM here - 1987 to 2015, global operations in roles as varied as the theatre of ops. In a support role to local law enforcement, disobey clear instruction or engage - you get fudged. Every incident used a measured and necessary response. Didn’t particularly enjoy pinning people down but it was for the greater good. I can’t see that the officer did anything unexpected - it’s a case of fudge around and find out. Got mates that went from military SF and SFSG into law enforcement. Don’t mess. Boils my blood hearing about the Royal Engineers incident in Medway, reminded me of Lee Rigby too. I think the mental health is rubbish, I sincerely think it’s extremism, seen enough to know it.
