Part of what I like about this show is that you always find the sweetest, funniest, positive people to show you, and us, the local food scene. I wish the UK had such a vibrant and welcoming food industry like Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Japan etc. It seems to act like a social glue, bringing people together.

Many would say papaitan is from the goat's bile. But what they dunno is that it really is from the digested grass that isn't really the poop yet. That is boiled and the digested grass is separated through the use of strainer. Its better than the bile. Tastier, less bitter and the smell is more tolerable.🙂
@POM307
6 жыл бұрын
That is true and correct. Bile is the modern version. For us in Ilocos we take the grass from the intestines and extract the fluids and use that to cook papaitan :)

Exactly this, me as a European i loved alll literally all of the pinoy dishes i tried and it are a lot. Also the sweets, rice cakes etc are very good. I can tell that 95% of the pinoy dishes are very very good (although sometimes not too healthy ahahahaha) Aside from papaitan, its my only exception. And it isnt bad just too pait (bitter) for me. its something i could have for a few spoons but cant fniish the bowl hahaa. anyway i hope outsiders wont judge pinoy food/culture just because of these rare dishes that are uncommon amongst the general population in philippines. And even so some dishes do taste great despite ingredients such as isaw a talaga masarap streetfood, but its just seasoned and roasted pork/chicken intestines.
