What an indulgent dessert with saffron, rose water, butter and so on... Can't wait to try it. But, I want precise directions, what kind of rice should I use, is round short grain rice suitable ? And one more question, can I use almond powder instead of slivered almonds ?

Yes, that should work. I am using a lower quality basmati for this. The silvered almonds gives it a nice soft textured crunch, so that’s what you would miss if you don’t use it
