For the best understanding of marksmanship at Long Range use the Long Range Military Decimal Target and record shot calls and strikes. This process will help you to analyze all aspects of what is important to good shooting. Also, dial elevation when time permits since that better supports consistent sight alignment as well as parallax mitigation. Creds: Long Range High Master, US Distinguished Rifleman, and Military Rifle Instructor assisting the USAMU deliver SDM, TTT, and SAFS Training. At any rate, put it all together with: accurate data, marksmanship, match conditioned rifle, match grade ammunition, accurate initial no wind zero, stable position, and appropriate sights for apparent target size and conditions. One more thing, you should know your MOA wind constant before you get to the range. Then before your first shot calculate wind velocity and direction to get wind value and next calculate wind favor using your constant. BTW good MOA constant for Mk 262 at 600 yards is 10 (8.5 is actual) but not needed for E target hits. Here’s the formula for a 10 mph full value wind at 600 yards shooting Mk262: 600 / 100 equals 6 times 10 mph equals 60 / 10 MOA constant equals 6 MOA or 36 inch favor. Also, shoot factory match ammo to get a basis of understanding about general marksmsnship. That is necessary before handloads can be appraised.

One good thing about high humidity is the noticeable path made by the projectile as it cuts through the air.

I agree. Trying to get some good cam footage for the 1K and longer shots but am not super happy with how it turned out so far. I’d like to be able to see trace as clear as possible.

At that distance mirage can really mess with things too. Perhaps a good slow motion camera that was placed at about 800 could work well. It’d take a bit of trial and error to sort out the best position. Love the rifle too. If I ever move in the US, I am going to get myself one of those.@@hkrifleworks

Haha heck no. Target looks big in the video through a spotting scope but it’s like 10” at 550 yards lol

Thanks man and for the sub too! Yes missed a few. 10-12” targets at 550yds is no joke with an 18” 5.56 gas gun 😂

Thanks a ton man and best of luck on the paint job! One of my first videos was painting this exact upper. It’s on the channel called “how to paint a rifle”. It should answer all your questions. If not, leave a comment there and I’ll do my best to help out!
